How big are my arms? Dont know, never measured. Im looking to crack 2:30 for the marathon so stay away from heavy weights cos they bulk me up too quickly.
Permalink Reply by DURIANRIDER on March 26, 2012 at 2:26pm Its IMPOSSIBLE to have 'mass' and run fast over 800m. Its like a power lifter being able to do more chin ups than a 12 year old female girl in the play ground. He won't be able too and the 12 year old girl with pig tails is going to own his rump on the chin up bar in front of her friends wearing angry bird t-shirts.
How to hold mass and run fast and long? Aint possible. Even if your on steroids you wont be able to hold mass and run fast distance. One must choose one or the other. You cant ride a bicycle and build a house at the same time.
This is Australia's fastest marathoner at the moment. Michael Shelley. Id have to drop another 21lbs to be the same BMI as him.
Permalink Reply by DURIANRIDER on March 27, 2012 at 8:45am Have you ever seen a fast runner that wasnt skinny? I havent. Even Usain Bolt is skinnier than most guys you see at the local 100m events. I did some track races last week and ALL the 100 and 60m guys were bigger than Usain Bolt. Width, not heigh wise. ;)
The athlete that can keep speed but shed weight is the best athlete. Thats why drugs are so rife in sports. Even Carl Lewis said Usain is doped.
i was watching the iron man comp in hawaii and most of those guys are super muscular despite doing crazy endurance training.
i couldn't figure it out.
Permalink Reply by DURIANRIDER on March 27, 2012 at 7:08pm I dont consider triathletes 'super muscular' lol!
Craig Alexander & Macca. 2 biggest names in the sport. You can see his ribs at the top of his chest. Skinny endurance legs. NOBODY is muscle bound in endurance sports. You can't be. Excess muscle weighs you down.

Then we have Chrissie Wellingon. I wouldnt call her 'muscles' either. ;)
This is what I call super muscular. Noah Hannibal, Australian bench press heavyweight champion and vegan for 16 years.
Robert Cheeke.
Moral of the story: Its IMPOSSIBLE to be super muscular if your a half decent endurance athlete. All the body builders that join up cycling/running. They drop so much muscle they get called 'skinny' by their muscle bound friends. Its physically impossible to hold on to lots of muscle as an endurance athlete. Just as its impossible to hold onto much endurance if you can lift competitive weights.
Permalink Reply by DURIANRIDER on March 27, 2012 at 8:43am Women aint designed to look like men. What separates women from men primarily visually is fat and fluid levels. Trying to thrash our body so we look identical to men is just plain unhealthy. Ive lots of personal stories to share on this one too.
Men can be ripped easily. Women can be slim easily. Focus on slim and trim and health and sane vs tried to starve glycogen and fluid levels down to look like a man.
