Permalink Reply by Lauren Anderson on July 7, 2012 at 7:10am I agree. If you're healthy it should be fine. And these people who have problems are probably eating a lot of milk/eggs/meat anyways. We all know how people like to blame the SAD foods on fruits and veg.
Permalink Reply by Rawmama on July 8, 2012 at 1:12pm genetic tendency to produce oxalate? What is the science behind that. Are people born that way?

Permalink Reply by Kenny F on July 7, 2012 at 10:32am I wouldn't put much stock on that article, Oxalate should not be a problem for most healthy people no matter how much greens they eat.
Normally, the gut won't absorb much of the oxalate from the diet because most of it will be metabolized by the flora or just leave the body with the stool.
If you have "Leaky Gut" then the absorption rates can be much, much higher.
There is a test called "Intestinal Permeability Test" that can show if someone has Leaky Gut or not, it's relatively in-expensive and easy to do.

Permalink Reply by Catherine on July 7, 2012 at 12:35pm Hi !
I am having my first green smoothie tonight for dinner... LOL !
maybe i am wrong but i just tend to try things for myself and see how my body respond. If it makes me sick all night I won't do any more green smoothie and will reverse to datorade and banana smoothies. It is doesn't, maybe the oxalate content is not harming me... is it naive ?
Permalink Reply by rawkbobster on July 7, 2012 at 1:49pm the woman who wrote this article is also an advocate of eating dairy and meat. you can watch her explain this in the video of her in the profile section of her blog. i'm disinterested in the health advice of people who campaign to eat animals.
Permalink Reply by Raw Zombie on July 7, 2012 at 3:59pm yeah, I am sure all these MF'ers with oxlaic crystals are just wolfing down the greens like there is no tomorrow, I call BS on this, reminds me of the type that say fructoses causes cancer therefore bananas and fruit are off the menu fear based marketing at its finest
Permalink Reply by Reed on July 7, 2012 at 9:21pm Rawmama, You have two posts here and I smell a creepy troll.
What's your goal? To say vegetables are devastating to your health? You need some common sense.
I'm sure I could dig up 1000's of articles that say fruits and vegetables kill yet Animal lard is healthy. What's the point? To manipulate and deceive?
We know the truth yet you find one idiot savant that paints things wrong and you fall for it? I don't follow stupid thoughts projected by people lacking common sense. So why do you?
I call it as it is...
