Question for those who still eat cooked food from time to time or remember their transition period: what symptoms do you get from eating cooked food? Not SAD but low fat and vegan foods.

Permalink Reply by Lala M. Apples on April 2, 2012 at 9:06pm I don't experience any bad bad symptoms with cooked foods in moderation. If I have one meal after a stretch of raw ones my digestion slows down a bit but remains excellent. I also become more thirsty. I don't experience thirst when eating a lot of fruits. However, my end goal is to still be as close to 100% raw as possible.

Permalink Reply by Chrishan Fister on April 2, 2012 at 10:06pm Cooked food in moderation just leads to a little bit of constipation, but nothing serious. If I dig in until I'm full, I get a little stomach ache and feel exhausted. I try to avoid cooked foods as much as possible, but sometimes there's just no (ripe) fruits available…
Permalink Reply by Clarissa on April 2, 2012 at 10:17pm It kinda depends, if I've been eating 100% raw for a while (a month or more) it's a very odd experience. I remember this winter when I'd been under-eating on fruit for some time, cause I wasn't used to eating such large quantities, so I started having some low fat cooked vegan meals for dinner. At first I felt very nauseous from the first bite, so I had to salt it, which only disguised my nausea for that time. Then I felt cold, heavy, thirsty and very tired. I also remember having nightmares that night and waking up nauseous, feeling really bad all morning. But it goes away if I regularly eat the food cooked, guess the body adapts to the level of toxidity. I also sweat a lot more, smelly sweat and easily catch colds and viruses. On the bright side, my acne clears up from cooked foods, I didn't have acne before 811, but I've heard that it's common in the beginning when switching from low-carb to high-carb diets. Anyone experiencing similar symtoms, I feel like I'm a hypochondriac sometimes... :P
Permalink Reply by Elsophe on June 9, 2012 at 9:51am Agreed, I think the body adapts to eating cooked food all the time so you don't notice the symptoms as much ... imagine if your body never adapted to eating cooked food. I think there would be a few more raw foodists in the world.
Permalink Reply by Freddy Z on April 3, 2012 at 12:25am A few times a week ill steam some sweet potatoes, maybe sprinkle some cinnamon over top, and or add some apples in the mix. Doesn't affect me in the least. Other times ill boil some white potatoes and add a bunch of corn over top, mix it all up, and enjoy. Love the starch. Again, doesn't affect em in the least. All organic of course.
Permalink Reply by Carla Frazier on April 3, 2012 at 5:21am Same here! Even quinoa and rice do not affect me, and I still go to the bathroom normally. I usually eat the cooked carbs when I haven't eaten enough during the day, or if I had a really intense workout, I just feel like I need something intensely carb-ful = potatoes/rice. haha (organic yes!!)
Permalink Reply by Helen on April 3, 2012 at 12:37am I don't have any health problems with eating cooked low fat vegan food from time to time(no salt, and just lightly steamed), but it usually tastes very salty and dry to me and I can't finish the whole bowl because I just don't feel like eating more. After an hour I always start to crave something juicy and sweet.
Permalink Reply by Gina Silvestri on April 3, 2012 at 2:25am sluggish, tired, weight gain, painful menstrual periods, pains come back from old injuries...did I mention sluggish? i had cooked quinoa at times last year (with coconut oil and sea salt on it....) and it knocked me out. i ran straight for Grain Damage by Doug Graham and it got me back on path again ...phew!
Permalink Reply by HappySun on April 3, 2012 at 2:29am i experienced these cooked food effects:
(from cooked and processed food like pasta, bread, refined sugar products)
EGO hails.
my nose started to run
i was getting hungrier with every bite and somehow never have felt like i was satisfied but i always felt like i was carrying some bricks in my tummy,
i couldnt move without pain after a meal,
i was getting tired
i felt how my body becomes lazy and kept dehydrating no matter how much water i was drinking
occlusion
thoughts become confusing and very hard to stay focused
my hole perspective to life became harder and harder
i felt smaller and weaker, also in my intellect, like a blockade
unmotivating mood
energylevels sank down
i also noticed that i tend to accept the normal lethargic lifestyle and start producing thoughts like: ah ill make it later, or i dont care,
procratination
seemed like my heart and my whole system were some kind of 'blocked' against all the good things that happen in life everywhere
like the body and mind are oberstrained and too busy to concentrate and experience the sunny sides in life.
like someones puts garbage around you.
interesting: whats within you is around you.
garbage inside = garbage outside

I am new on this and am trying to figure out which foods I may be intolerant to, but I can related to all on the above list.
And this is when eating cooked sweet potato w/ pink salt & some coconut oil. (though, not severe symptoms) and also cauliflower steamed w/ a tiny bit of olive oil.
