Its been a dream of mine to live in Hawaii. My boyfriend shares the same dream. We have a 3 year old and live in NC. I just dont see how I can take the plunge without having tons of money saved up. I need some sort of security/plan since its not just me, but a family moving. Anyone care to share how they made it happen on a budget? It just seems expensive to live there. Of course I would like to live low key but it seems that sort of thing is best found through word of mouth. I would love to hear from personal experience! Thanks!!
Permalink Reply by Traci on It's my dream as well. Don't know if it will ever happen for me though. Seems like the big island is the cheapest - the closer you get to volcano. Of course that comes with risk of losing everything. But if you can get some land and plant your own fruit trees, garden, etc then that would obviously cut down on your food expenses.
I'll be there for vacation in Feb so I'm hoping I'll get a chance to at least pick up some real estate info.
