30 Bananas a Day!

Greens are probably more important to health than most people realize. The equivalent of a head of lettuce per day is a good guide. How do you get your greens in? I used to eat a big salad as my last meal but now im experimenting by adding greens to each of my 3 main fruit meals.

I usually blend about 70% of my greens, and then eat the rest towards the end of my day.
What do you blend your greens with Sebastian?
Usually I will do a large spinach and celery combo, but occasionally I will also add asparagus and / or carrot. If I feel like something sweeter, I might add in a pear or an apple. And then I will eat lettuce of some variety in a simple salad, perhaps with tomato and capsicum.
Thanks for your answer Sebastian.
Sebastian, you blend asparagus? I didn't even know you could eat asparagus raw, nor did I know it was considered a "green" in terms of mineral content. Really interesting! Does it taste the same raw as it does cooked?

I don't think asparagus is considered a "leafy green" as such (might be wrong) - but it has a bit of iron and copper in it, as well as possessing a reasonable percentage of protein per gram.

Raw asparagus blends quite well - I do chop it up into smaller sections (perhaps 3cm to 5cm in length), as I've only got a cheap $30 blender :)

In terms of taste and texture - for me, it took a bit of getting used to (it tastes similar but not identical to cooked), but I like it now.

Thanks for your reply! I'll have to try it:)
I like blending greens, especially spinach - into smoothies. I'll usually do spinach & mango, or spinach & pineapple, tastes delicious:) For romaine lettuce- I usually just eat it by the leaf... i can eat about 350g in a sitting. If I have some spring mix or arugula on hand, I'll make a huge salad for dinner:)
I blend some in a smoothie in the morning and then eat a giant salad at night w/ blended tomato dressing
Had some kale (home grown) blended into my daterade today for the first time. It was ok, not my favorite, but a way to get some kale into the body. Anybody else ever had that combo? I was wondering how I would feel, and it seems I feel ok. I was a little worried about the fruit and veggie thing being bad food combining. What do you think?.
I usually do bananas as a base.

I think a banana/date/kale smoothie is wonderful; I go for 8 dates, 6 bananas and 2-3 cups kale, but I'm trying to up the kale as I get used to it!!
