I am still healing from a month long issue on another board that centered around this very topic. This hasn't been the first go-round of this happening. It happened when I first started eating a raw program and studied Natural Hygiene back in the '90's. I lost all my excess weight rapidly and got very fit and healthy. Then, the mass ridicule and down right open humiliation from family, friends, and co-workers got to me and I went back on to the SAD path to disease and decay. I was surprised that this happened again, 20 years later on a website team devoted to of all things: raw foodists! LOL I have left that site and honestly 30BAD is a breath of fresh air, an oasis of sanity in a world that is filled with so much illness on many levels.
I am proud to say that I remained strong throughout this ordeal and I am a much better person in many ways. I ended up being the victor and getting a good look at how people, even raw foodists, can treat others who hold viewpoints that they are afraid of.
How have you handled situations like this?

Permalink Reply by H-Piddy on May 7, 2012 at 1:10pm I agree with many people who have already replied. SHOCK VALUE. Just put them in their place. I am still a beginner, and a bit underweight (5'3", 96 lbs.), but let me tell you, I can easily bench half my weight (able to bench full weight, but don't want to bulk up. ^_^) and I can do push-ups like there is no tomorrow. If people want to criticize you for a healthy lifestyle they do not understand, pull out your 'guns'.
Permalink Reply by ORGANIC811LFRV on May 8, 2012 at 7:18am I just shrug off any negativity and don't take it personal. I am a bit tougher than your average person on that front. I have always been a misfit or out of the mainstream my whole life, so I am used to it.
At work, I am surrounded by bigtime hunter types who often scoff at my banana lunches and call me "monkey boy" or "banana boy", I laugh it off and tell them the benefits of this lifestyle and they end up agreeing that they should eat more fruits and vegetables. I get weird looks and comments at the grocery store but that doesn't bother me. I am the one on the right path and they are the ones who I would consider "off."
It's not so bad. Other people have it worse.
Try being a raw vegan AND one of Jehovah's Witnesses in the Bible belt. LOL. I get ridiculed from all sides: meateaters, bible thumpers and atheists.
Snide comments and dirty looks will never change me. It's all good!!!!
Thanks Kare Bear. LOL, cool name.
You are so right. We should respect people of all stripes. We have so many things in common: we want peace, we want love and we want to just live life. We just allow the people with wrong motives to run everything.
PM if you ever have any questions.
Permalink Reply by ORGANIC811LFRV on May 8, 2012 at 8:56am Mr. Finckersnickle (cute name!) I too have been the odd one out all my life for various reasons. Other people criticizing what I do is one thing. Doing it PUBLICLY on an open forum and also publicly ridiculing me and the 80/10/10 program without knowing about it continuously for a month was a little too harsh to take lying down. It led me to come over to this website and I am very happy that I did. I feel I am home here. And safe!
Thank you for your response. Here's to you from another odd one out. LOL A have friends who are JW's and they are fine people. I have no difficulty with the differences of others faiths, or eating habits. Live and let live and respect others and be as gentle as you can. That's what I live by. This onslaught again got to me and I needed to have it out in the open.
Thanks again you all. You have helped me immensely.
We need more people like you on this planet.
I completely understand how the negative stuff can get under your skin. Sometimes THEY get to me as well.
Thanks.
Permalink Reply by ORGANIC811LFRV on May 8, 2012 at 9:24pm The more people eat 811rv or something close to it and get off the toxic commercial phakephood the better they start to feel. Then when they detox either with a juice feast like I'm on (day 80 of 92 today!) the toxins start leaving and they start becoming loving once again. People are literally not themselves as long as they eat crap. They feel like crap they talk crap. Simple as that. LOL
Permalink Reply by ORGANIC811LFRV on May 8, 2012 at 9:19pm You are exactly right, Kare Bear. This person is in a leader-role on that site. She is getting it back ten-fold right now with others who are upset at what has happened. It isn't over yet. LOL
To me this is also another example of what the phood industry has done to our state of mind and body. When we eat commercial phakephood for years our mind AND body litterally fall apart. Solid 811rv gets us on the road to repair and then it is necessary to detox to rid ourselves of the toxins. She refuses to do this. Of course! LOL

Permalink Reply by JonH on June 14, 2012 at 9:39pm I was told that if I went vegan I would be dead within a month (coming from someone who is choking on cigarettes and looks to be in a bad way), pity these people, it just shows how deep the brainwashing runs.
