hi guys,
Unlike many of you guys, I eat salad for lunch, a big salad and sometimes with raw soup. I am serious eater and eat really a lot for lunch, but then i feel something is missing. Why is it so damn hard to cut my sugar craving? I cannot help but looking for chocolate, cookie or whatever that has sugar and chocolate inside right after meal and it does not matter how much I eat for the meal. Maybe I should stop eating anything sweet all together? Sorry but I am not disclined at all when it comes to food.
Any suggestion?

A piece of meat or high fat high protein vegan foods are a complex thing, not just protein and fat I would think. What are you tasting when eating say a plain steak, what chemicals are there? DR or someone reading this.
Permalink Reply by Trevor Gates on September 6, 2012 at 6:53am Your taste buds will detect:
Sweet, sour, bitter, spice(heat), and salt.
Pure fat is completely tasteless. It has a texture but not a taste.
Same with protein.
The things you taste in plain steak are the minerals (salts), and sugars(from the blood). There is also sour(acids) and bitter(alkaloids). All these make up the "taste" of plain meat.
Permalink Reply by kate on September 3, 2012 at 11:03am I'd agree it's a good idea to start your biggest meal with fruit; I too eat an enormous salad for lunch, and only a very small amount of fruit in the morning, as eating almost anything before my workout gives nausea. I eat a little dried fruit immediately after (kept in my gym locker), as it is recommended to eat sweet fruit asap after a workout.
When I get home, it's greens I really crave; yet I know I must eat more fruit, or there will be sugar craving later until I satisfy it. So after 1-2l water I eat some, and enjoy it. Then I can get on with what I really want, my huge salad. Yes it takes ages to eat, but I work from home so can do both :). Don't fight the craving; deal with it then have your salad, or have the fruit in your salad.

Permalink Reply by Eun on September 5, 2012 at 7:54am Thanks, guys.
I sincerely tried every "good" after-meal-tips from eating a handful of raw almonds, drinking a cup of ginger tea or almond milk which all turned out insufficent to satisfy my enormous craving for overeating sweets. I will try to do following as you suggested
1. incorporate dates or figs with my salad, 2. just before the meal eat handsome amount of yummy fruits like pineapple apricots that I adore or , 3. eat more fruits than veggies and not just worry about it.
Some day I will be able to maintain tranquility in gourmet chocolate stores or in any sweet shops.

Permalink Reply by Agnes on September 5, 2012 at 10:07am eat enough fruit !! a better option for lunch might be a fruit salad, or a fruit meal ! if you are craving sugar, you aren't eating enough fruit =)
Permalink Reply by PK on September 6, 2012 at 5:31am I eat fruit during the day and save the salad for the evening, but if needed, can round out the salad with more fruit.
Make sure you are getting enough calories.
Peace, PK
