30 Bananas a Day!

Cara~aka~Meadow

How do I tell friend and family how good this diet is for me if I look like HELL?

Seriously, I look like I am eating things that are bad for me. My face is covered with a rash, and my neck, its not acne, it is red and speckled all over. For a while when I first started the diet, my face really cleared up. I thought I had Rosecea before, but it completely went away, and NOW its worse than ever. I keep getting advice on here to keep plugging away at the diet, and it will sort itself out. Its good advice in theory, but its been MONTHS, and not much of a sign that things are improving.

I did an 8 day stay on banana island, and not much improvement. I mainly mono meal, and when I do combine, I am conscious of the rules. I drink plenty of water. I try to get enough sleep, but with a busy hectic life, I am sure I don't get an optimal amount.

Everyone asks me if I am allergic to something, and I say "yeah, probably, I just wish I knew what it was. I must be allergic to fruit, cuz thats all I eat"...it might be nightshades, it seems like it all started when I ate a ridiculous amount of tomatoes this summer. Yes, SUMMER, this started the end of August, beginning of September, and its almost January. I went raw in April this year, so in 3 and a half months, I will be raw for one year.

My new years resolution is to cut out the overts all together.
But, how am I supposed to feel good about what I am doing, if I feel like it might not be working for me considering how I look. And how am I supposed to tell my family and friends that I am OK, and that this diet is NOT hurting me, because it looks like I am falling apart. I feel pretty good, so I know that I want to continue, I am not giving up or anything, just frustrated, and feeling a bit let down.

I need inspiration, does anyone have a success story they can share, or any advice on what foods I should be cutting out or adding in?
I am thinking that I need B vitamin rich, beta carotene rich, and zinc rich foods. Any others?

How is your exercise and stress level? What kind of soaps do you use, conditioners, laundry detergents?

I still get pimples when stressed.....it'll be okay! Just meditate, pet your cat/dog, and enjoy life. Smile. :)

I always use all natural stuff. I have had horrible reactions to wearing clothes washed in Tide or other commercial chemical detergents. But even if that were the case, it would be on other parts of my body where my clothing touches, not my face, right?
Stress level minimum, exercise not as much as I would like since we are buried in snow now, LOL.
I have no obligations today but to relax, so that is what I am doing. No cats or dogs to love on, but thats great, I used to take much comfort in my dog when she was with me.

I try to get about 3 liters a day, if not more. I always start the day with at least a half a liter, usually a whole liter before I eat at all. I have been trying to be more conscious about it thinking that I may just need more water to help clear it out. After all, skin as an elimination organ, so I was thinking that my body was eliminating all the years of bad habits.

mmmmmmmmm...I don't know? I usually don't eat too much nuts or avocados, but I do eat them from time to time, maybe once a week or so, or less...I tend to eat a lot of fruit, lettuce, celery... But for how little I eat them, I think giving them up completely would be easy for me. I remember a discussion on "no overts for a year" I will look for it and read it, I didn't follow that one.

Kind of odd you need to drink water at all. Are you sure your eating low fat and entirely raw? I go for MONTHS without drinking a drop because the raw fruit and veggies provide plenty of water. Anthropoid primates (like us) are not known to drink water except very rarely in the wild. Usually people who drink fluids do it to dilute all the toxic spices, fats, etc they consume. Barring some circumstance like working outside in a hot climate, you should pee nearly clear urine about a dozen times a day without drinking any fluids at all.

Maybe the water your drinking is poor? Have you tested it? Some people are allergic to bananas too; I have a lot of trouble with them. Do you buy the "Dirty Dozen" fruits and veggies organic? What about soaps or moisturizers? Maybe your putting something on your skin that irritates it? Even showering dries my skin out and makes it itchy because our city water is loaded with clorine. I try to only shower when I really need to like once a week.

Ditto this!! After eating many many clemetines/citrus especially I always feel thirsty. I love water and when I go without it I feel like a wilting flower...

I hardly need any water on 811 as well and pee a lot from all the fruit but...Graham states in his pamphlet for athletes that they need to drink enough water and mix it into the dateraid and banana aid they drink while racing. I guess if we were eating right from childhood we would not need water but for transitioning and getting out years of gunk I guess we still do.

drinking water is essential for human vitality. dehydration is a great way to prematurely age and fatigue.

Hmmm...I peed 2 gallons in one 24 hr period last summer-nearly 15 pounds-without drinking ANY fluids for weeks before hand. Over70% of fresh fruit and leafy veggies are water. People who eat large amounts of raw fruit and greens, like our anthropoid cousins, do not usually need to drink fluids. I am extremely fit and high energy and practically NEVER drink fluids and I pee large amounts everyday. Exercise wise, I lift weights about 5 times a week and have a sedentary inside job and live in a cool climate. I almost never break a sweat so additional water is entirely unnecessary and probably excessive given the huge amount I pee. I'd be floating if I drank fluids. Many people live like me in a temperate climate largely inside and rarely sweat.

When I eat dates I often do drink water since they are low water content compared to stuff like melons and bananas. I stopped drinking fluids the day I went 811 so some of us do not need fluids. I also did not transition; I was regular vegan one day and was 100% 811 the next and never looked back nor did I have any detox symptoms.

I guess it depends on the person... I heard DR saying that it is a big mistake not to drink water, even on 801010! But yeah, quality of the water is very important!

Hey Cara

I just noticed you live in Madison too. We have a active Raw Meetup Group that holds potlucks in town usually twice a month. If you search "raw meetup madison wi" on meetup.com you should see it. We have over 100 members and the meetups are good fun, though just about all the food is NOT low fat.
