Hello all,
I have really enjoyed all the things I have been learning on this site.
Early this month I bought a body brush and have been using it and bathing in lukewarm to cool water, without soap. I could feel the difference in my skin almost immediately. And I don't use coconut oil or Shea butter as much anymore, because my skin is not as dry as it once was.
I also washed my hair without shampoo (I had been using Dr Bronner's for the last three years) and have been pleased with the results. I gave up toothpaste a long time ago, but now I also have given up baking soda (according to rawfoodexplained.com, brushing the teeth is a mechanical, not a chemical process).
Because I still eat fish one to three times a week (but no other cooked foods), I have not yet given up deodorant (I still use mineral salts for now).
Gradually going raw since May has yielded a 50 lb weight loss bonus (perhaps I'll upload some before and after pictures soon).
But the most exciting development for me this morning was checking my pH level. For years, it was 5.5 or below (horrible)! But as of today- it's ALKALINE!!!
I ate the last piece of fish that was in my freezer yesterday, so 100% raw, 80/10/10 here I come! Hopefully, I am not in any way setting myself up for failure, or harboring unrealistic expectations. I know that for some, it can take a year or more to transition, and for others it's short and smooth. Or is it? However my journey goes, I want to enjoy every moment. After all, it's been quite an adventure so far. Thanks for all the tips, advice and encouragement, past, present, and future!
