Please sign the petitions, send mails and share at facebook to help to free Captain Paul Watson! He is helping the oceans for many years, now he needs our help!
In shocking news, German officials have decided to proceed with the extradition of Captain Watson to Costa Rica. Our last hope of saving Captain Watson from extradition is to convince German officials at the Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to step in and overturn their decision. Show your support for Captain Watson by contacting Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger, the Federal Minister of Justice in Berlin, Germany. Let her know that the warrant for Captain Watson's arrest is politically motivated and thus should be ignored by the German government. With international support we can set Captain Watson free, and keep him from the possibility of facing an unfair trial in Costa Rica.

Bundespräsident Joachim Gauck:
reported in national geographic:
The Sea-lebrities, a term coined by the Barbi Twins, are saying, “Free the Captain!” Not only is he on a rival network — Animal Planet — but he is opposed to the work of marine parks — which offer programs which I condone. These are facilities I have worked with and totally support as a former trainer of marine mammals.
Nevertheless, Paul Watson, the founder of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) was released from jail in Germany and may now be extradited to Costa Rica to face charges relating to a confrontation he had with shark fin poachers back in 2002.
The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society is concerned that he won’t even make it to a courthouse in Costa Rica before someone takes his life. The organization has implored celebrities and other followers to observe Save Our Skipper Day—A Global Day of Action—on May 23rd and have asked supporters to write the German Ministers on behalf of Paul Watson.
The iconic pin-ups, the Barbi Twins, are avid supporters of SSCS and Watson, and have been recruiting celebrities like Joanna Krupa, Ken Wahl, Simone Reyes, Russell Simmons and Willie Nelson’s daughters, Raelyn and Amy to support the Captain and bring him home safely. You can learn more about the Barbi Twins three steps to help save Captain Paul Watson on Russell Simmon’s Global Grind blog: http://globalgrind.com/news/help-save-captain-paul-watson-barbi-twins.

Captain Watson has been granted bail, but he cannot leave Germany and the extradition process is proceeding! For the past week, we have called upon you to reach out and contact Germany's Federal Minister of Justice and Minister of Foreign Affairs to secure the captain's release from this politically motivated case. The world is mobilizing to #FreePaulWatson. Our voices are being heard, but we must keep the pressure on!
This Wednesday, May 23rd, we are calling upon all supporters of Captain Paul Watson to go to the nearest German embassy or consulate between 1100 and 1300 hours (local time) to protest his unjust arrest and impending extradition. Organize or join the cacophony of voices and demand Captain Paul Watson's freedom!
This international day of protest coincides with the Costa Rican President's visit to Germany. Make your voice be heard! Be respectful in your conduct and communications, but keep the pressure on. With your help, we can persuade the President of Costa Rica, the German Chancellor, and the Honorable Ministers of Germany to safeguard Captain Watson's human rights by not bowing to bogus accusations of shark fin poachers who are nothing more than common criminals.
For the oceans,
Sea Shepherd HQ
P.S. Remember — show solidarity and assemble at your closest German embassy or consulate this coming Wednesday between 1100 and 1300 hours (local time). Learn more...
it may be a good idea to start gathering politician info on costa rica.
perhaps we should start a campaign to get them to clean up their act rather than go after someone who is doing their job for them.
that's great ednshell!
Captain Paul Watson will hold a Press conference outside Preungesheim prison in Frankfurt at 1pm on Monday May 21st
thx for the update lm!
this should be good prep for wednesday.
all this should also serve to highlight how little attention the authorities pay to illegal activities when they generate income for them.
some people aren't aware of the extent of paul's talents. they think that he just goes around being a good pirate ramming evil ships.
here's some items that one should be aware of:
Paul majored in communications and linguistics at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. He has lectured extensively at universities around the world, and was a professor of Ecology at Pasadena College of Design from 1990 through to 1994. Paul also was an instructor in UCLA's Honors Program for 1998 and 1999. Currently, Paul is a registered speaker with the Jodi Solomon Speakers Bureau of Boston, and regularly gives presentations at colleges and universities
in the United States, and at special events throughout world.
On the political front, Paul has run for Member of Parliament for Vancouver Centre in the Canadian Federal elections. He ran twice for the Green Party. He also ran on the Green Party ticket for Vancouver Parks Board in 1987 and for Mayor of Vancouver in 1995.
Paul has received many awards and commendations over the years. In 1996, Paul was awarded an honorary citizenship to the French town of St. Jean Cap Ferrat. Previous to that he was made an honorary citizen of the Florida Keys in 1989. Other awards include Toronto City TV's Environmentalist of the Year Award for 1990, the Genesis Award in 1998 and he was enrolled in the U.S. Animal Rights Hall of Fame in 2002. He was also awarded the George H. Bush Daily Points of Light Award in 1999 for his volunteer efforts with conservation activism. He was
chosen by Time Magazine as one of the environmental heroes of the 20th Century in the year 2000.
(it's a good article btw)
the guy not only has the brawn, but also the brains to represent the most foundational social justice cause in history.
