i have decided to cut out avocado for a few days since i was eating a lot...now i realize that i think i have a banana addiction as well...its all i wanna eat and they r kinda high in cal so it makes it hard to restrict my calories which is what i want to do right now. why do u think i am so addicted? has this happened to u? what should i do?
thanks everyone so much...the only thing is im so confused about calories. i was fine restricting on cooked but on this i feel hungry eating the same amount. what am i doing wrong?
If you were "fine" restricting on cooked, then why go raw? There had to be something about cooked that was not fine for you to decide to change. Sorry, i'm not trying to be picky, It just seems like we might be giving you advice based on some incomplete knowledge of where you're at. (and no, i'm in no way suggesting that you go back to cooked) :)
cuz i want to have good health and energy. in my heart i just knew raw was right and my tastes have over months been sending me signs and leading me to more raw food. i would also like to have ideal body though :) and not have excess fat.
Part of having good energy is having enough fuel. If you undereat, you will continue to struggle with energy, cooked or raw. So maybe to start with, consider altering your 1200cal benchmark slightly. Have you cut out the salt yet? If you cut out all the salt, you might loose 5 lbs right there in water weight, and hit your target. (just a possibility).
"my tastes have over months been sending me signs and leading me to more raw food."
Then consider the possibility that it's ok to eat more raw food.
read my answer on the previous page...and, cooked food stays in the digestive system longer and is thus easier to undereat on, fruit goes in and out quickly
I think your confusion rests in what you conceive "hunger" to be. I'm going to guess that you eat a meal, get full, and then you're hungry soon after. While eating heavier cooked food, it sits in your stomach for longer as it breaks down and gives you that "full" feeling for a longer period of time.
Any time your stomach growls, your abdominal wall shrinks, or you just have that lighter feeling, it's typically perceived as hunger. When in reality, hunger is felt towards the bottom of your throat, and until you experience true hunger on a day to day basis as the indicator for food, it will be hard to identify. So it takes some time getting used to, I'm still getting used to it 8 or 9 months in. And once you do feel truly hungry, you're going to want a big ass meal, trust me.
I hear people who eat SAD or cooked veg always say "do you ever get that feeling that you're really hungry for a while, and then it just goes away and you're not hungry?" That's them mistaking hunger for stomach pangs.
Track your caloric intake to get used to the volume of food required to fulfill your needs. And next time you think you feel hungry, you're probably thirsty, so try drinking some water instead of eating. If that satisfies that familiar feeling of hunger, then chances are you weren't hungry in the first place.
This true hunger thing is talked a lot about in Natural Hygiene books, and most of them say that you won't feel true hunger atleast into 20 days of a water fast, some go as far as 40 days etc. I disagree with that.
The way true hunger is described in books and when I've talked to NH doctors, I feel that hunger about 2 days into a water fast, that hunger in the throat and chest. NH bugs me a little because they have these "rules" that they can't explain to me. No NH doc has been able to tell me why I get the reactions I do when I fast.
Elle, Regardless though, that shrinking stomach feeling SHOULD NOT be presumed to be hunger, it simply isn't. For me, my body just tells me it needs food but from nowhere in particular. This is a practiced skill you will learn as you listen more and more to your body.
thanks everyone! i think u guys r right that i do not know what real hunger is. i am gonna stick with 1200 cal cuz it worked on cooked and it seems u guys believe calories are pretty much equal? anyhoo i will stick with 1200 and try to understand my body more. im positive i have issues understanding hunger. i think i will cut out avocado. I keep telling myself ill do that and then why i eat it i dont feel that great! What is the point of that. I think I will also start planning my meals the day before and stick to 3 meals instead of just grazing. I will also not do blending for the next few days so i can get the real volume of food (i never have trouble getting greens in anyway). when my body is asking for bananas i think it is just asking for calories and i have not been planning my days well so my body is confused. i will stick with 3 meals and maybe switch my biggest to the morning (reverse whats in the book) because I am always hungriest in the morning and less so at night...though i suppose i can always retrain my hunger but anyhoo thanks for all your help this really got me thinking and answered lots of questions!
eating so little calories will only make you end up back eating cooked foods. Don't stress about calories eating 811. Trust me, I eat 2000+ and am in recovery from anorexia. I haven't gained weight.
Let go of the whole ED mentality. It will get you nowhere.
how active r u? i was never full blown anorexic (i never stopped eating but i was obsessed) and i was so good this year (well much better) and then i gained a little bit and it made me so depressed and crazy again...thats kinda y i wanna restrict to 1200 so that i can be done with dieting sooner and just get back to living again. thanks for ur help tho im glad to have someone who understands :) im so glad everything worked out for u!
no i want to go back to not restricting as soon as possible thats what i meant...i havent had trouble losing weight in the past this is the lifestyle that i want.
You're already there. You don't need to restrict your calories. You need to make sure those calories are coming from healthy fresh fruits. This will give your body more energy than it knows what to do with. This triggers exercise. The EXERCISE is what makes you lose weight.
Eat MORE fruit. Eat until satiation, over and over again, even if that means 20 banana meals three times a day.
I guarantee you that if you do this you will have so much energy that you will have no choice but to become very active.
From what I have seen, this is the way that this diet and lifestyle benefits most people.
You may have to go through a "detox" period first... but this is just your being learning the discipline necessary to channel chaotic energy into your intended target: exericise. (ie, finding motivation.)
Awesome thanks for sharing! I think its great that your goals are for more than just health and fitness too - i.e. your career. Good luck and feel free to post your progress to :)
Ignorance is bliss apparently... I don't justify myself to anyone I just don't care what they think anymore. I have more important things to worry about.
just wanted to add that I have scored ripe bananas at a good price at airports before so it is worth looking around particularly at bigger airports (and the look on your fellow travellers' faces when you're chowing down on 10 nanners at 30k ft is pr…

People started to think about nature and saving nature early on.
We have alot of law regulations about animal treatment at the farms and they are well let us say getting "closer" to the natural one.

no haven't heard that about the soap and cancer, seeing it's allopathic in nature (addressing a symptom not the cause) I can't imagine how that would work.
