I haven't really had a problem with this before today, but now I just eat and eat and eat without seeming to be able to stop.
For breakfast I had 200 grams of lettuce, 5 small(ish) bananas, 1 apple and 1 pear (and some cacao, the last bit of some I've tried to use up!)
Snack was 1 liter of green juice (lettuce, cucumber, celery and apple)
Dinner was a smoothie of 4 bananas, 5 dl frozen strawberries, 1 orange and 1/2 tbs blackstrap molasses
Evening meal was a low-fat cooked meal of beans and veggies in a tomato sauce with carrot scones on the side.
I just had the last meal, but ate a piece of scone + 3 more bananas. I am full, but just keep eating and I really don't know why. I didn't have any salt in my cooked food and I made sure that it was below 10% of calories from either fat and protein. Usually, this kind of meal satisfies me for many hours!
According to cronometer, I have eaten 2895 calories, 82.8/8.7/8.5
I have not done much exercise today either, just a 20 minutes walk with the dog this morning...
Anyone know what can be the cause for this never-ending eating?! I have been eating 811 now for about 7 weeks and have stayed between 2300 and 2600, with about 30-90 minutes of exercise/activity a day...

Permalink Reply by Sigrid Holth on April 6, 2012 at 5:57am There's no way I'd eat a SAD diet... The worst I'd do is eat cooked vegan food. I went vegan 2 years ago and would, and could, never go back...
He was being sarcastic, Sigrid. :)
What's the problem btw? I have the opposite situation and I wish I was in your place instead. Having a nice appetite and eating enough fruit? Sounds good to me. Sorry if this is too personal but do you have a background of anorexia or just general calorie restriction? Let me tell you that you by no means need to restrict your calories now. This is liberation from that restrictive mindset. :) Just eat and do things that make you feel good. You are active too. Lol again what's the problem? Your situation sounds really good. It's all good. Just relax.
Permalink Reply by Sigrid Holth on April 6, 2012 at 5:59pm Haha, no problems with the appetite! ;D Yes, I do have a history of severe anorexia some years ago, which made me wonder if this maybe was a flare up of those disordered thoughts from that time. I think I felt that I wasn't "perfect" (aka having eaten cooked food) and thus I felt really bad about having eaten a little more calories than I usually do. I have eaten over 3000 calories a day before though, with no bad feelings. But those days I ate only fruit.
Yeah, don't let the ghosts from the past bother you now. It's hard sometimes to let go of the mindset but I think if you just continue ignoring it and eating as much as you want/can, it will disappear before you know it. 3000 calories is cool, I wish I could do that too! :D Don't feel guilt for eating "alot", ever. Especially with being active, you should eat alot!

Permalink Reply by Heather Bhagat on April 6, 2012 at 6:02am Yesterday I had to work for 5 hours walking back n forth. I ate 2 pounds of dates (2,600 cal), 6 bananas (500 cal), 1 lb of mango(200 cal) and 10 celery sticks. I probably could have eaten more. :) 3,300 calories for the day!! I weigh 115 pounds. I do not consider that over eating or never ending eating. I call it the body knowing what it wants and feeding it properly :)
Permalink Reply by Sigrid Holth on April 6, 2012 at 6:09am Thanks for posting this, it makes me feel a little better =) Actually, I think I posted this much because I got a "relapse" of restricted thinking. Surely, 2900 calories must be WAY more than a person like me needs, right?! ...After hanging out on this website for 5 weeks, I should know better...
Permalink Reply by Greenmama on April 7, 2012 at 12:59am Isn't it great that you realized this now, Sigrid? I am so happy for you! Don't feel bad about your recovery journey. You are learning and growing every day.
Permalink Reply by Eli on April 6, 2012 at 6:17am 2300-2600 is NOTHING. I'm surprised you kept that up for 7 weeks..
I would be starving by now eating 2300 calories. Even without all the activity I do.
Don't even count lettuce as calories.. lol. Your breakfast you should aim for twice as much. Green juice? Was that really your lunch? That will leave your stomach in about 10 minutes and not even count as a meal. Your raw dinner you should have had three times as much. You probably went without anything except that green juice for a while, huh?
I ate 2700 calories myself everyday once on 811 and had the same problem. The only way to stick with it is to get 3K plus calories. If you're still hungry eat more. Your body wants nutrients. You won't get fat from this diet, believe me. Just eat a lot more during the day and breakfast. 3000, 4000, 5000 etc it's all good.
