30 Bananas a Day!

Hi there!!

It's several weeks that I'm reading this forum and I'd like to introduce myself :)

MY PAST

I've been vegan for the past 7-8 years...but almost junk food vegan... I used to eat not so much fruits and no salads at all ("grass is for cows").
I didn't care about my health, because I was vegan for the animals.

I reached my low point last Christmas: I spent the holiday season on the sofa watching tv series and eating pizza and ice cream.
Reaaaaaly bad! I felt bad for myself, I was out of breath easily... I'm a girl and I like shopping, but it was frustrating not be able to buy cute dresses.

My height is 170 cm (5' 7") and my weight was 62 kg (136.7 pounds), so it wasn't so horrible, but it wasn't good anyway.

So I decided to do something.
I cut off all the junk food (sweet cookies, crisp, ice cream...) and I started to eat more fruits and raw vegetable. I added brown rice, whole wheat pasta, quinoa, pearl barley in my recipes.
I also started to exercise: long walk and aerobic.

Then I stumble upon a video on youtube, A day in the life of a raw vegan by Megan Elisabeth and I was hooked. My only thought was "I want to be like her" :) And I started to read more about raw vegan and the 80 10 10 lifestyle.

NOW

I eat fruits for breakfast, cooked food for lunch (brown rice or quinoa etc etc with veggie) and a big salad for dinner. Plus fruits and few seeds as a snack during the day.
I'm trying to drink lots of water.
I exercise a lot. I go for a run 3 days a week and for a long walk 2 days a week. I'm doing the 30 day shred dvd by Jillian Michaels (and I improved my push ups and sit-ups). Aerobic exercises 3 days a week.

I bought dr. Graham 80 10 10 book on Amazon and I'm looking forward to read it.

Now my height is always 170 cm (5' 7") eheheh, but my weight is 55.3 kg (121.9 pounds).
I feel I have more energy and my body is becoming more strong and lean.

This is my story :)

LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

At the moment I live in Ireland and it's not so simple find good fruits and veggies here.
I receive a delivery a week from Home Organic with organic and mostly local fruits and veggies, but if there are Irish friends out there that can help me and give me tips about where to buy more fruits, it will be great.
The problem is that I grown up in Italy and the fruits there are fresh and rich in flavour, here almost everything is imported...

I live with my husband (he is vegetarian and really supportive), 4 cats (my babies) and a just adopted dog (the new entry of the family).

Have a nice day, everybody :)

Hello Stella! What Ireland lacks in fresh fruits is outweigh by the beauty of its landscape. Slán Abhaile

thank you :)
you are right, but I can't live of landscapes, rain and guinness :)

Hi Stella,

Welcome!  Sounds like you've had an awesome start on your health journey.  Congrats :o)

My 80 10 10 book is arrived and I'm reading it :) and I also ordered a vitamix juicer.

Dublin.

I don't know where are you from, maybe it's not really bad here, and it's just me because I'm fussy.

Anyway, this week I ordered for the first time from www.absolutelyorganic.ie/shop.asp They have a good selection of organic fruits and vegs.

My husband bought the weird fruit cherimoy in blackrock (dublin). There's an organic store near the train station (www.organicsupermarket.ie/contact/)
But I love them!! So I'll make sure to buy all of them :)

There's also a good farmer marked in Dublin, Co-op (www.dublinfood.coop/), but I've never been there yet.

oh my..... I don't really know. I think it's fine. I'm from Italy and every time I go there to visit my relatives, I think that the food is SOOOOOOO cheap compared to Ireland.

Anyway..... Hello Craig, and welcome into my problem. :) If I want to be 80 10 10, how much should I spend in fruits&vegs in this country?

Seems quite high to me. Where I live, prices vary from 1,79 € (cheapest discounter, but still organic) to 3 € per kg (your price is slightly above that). Usually I pay between 2 and 2,5 € per kg.

Welcome Stella & Family, lots of good people here.....spend some time in the forums and learn from a great bunch

Robbie
