Hi! I'm from Sweden and I'm new here. I hope you understand my not perfect English;)
I know there are others here who have experienced intolerance to bananas. My facial skin begins to itch and burn when I eat bananas and this feels very sad. There is no giant access to organic fruits here in Sweden and bananas are the only thing I can afford to buy organic in larger amounts. There is no giant access to non-organic fruit either. Most of it is of course imported and the only Swedish fruit available include apples (and sometimes plums and pears), which I do not feel good when I eat. And it's only for short periods of the year.

Permalink Reply by Fernando on June 28, 2012 at 3:44am I once had a banana intolerance the first 3 months of being on the diet. I had the same reactions you were having. I stopped eating it for about 2 months, which was not easy, but after the 2 month period I reintroduced it and now I have no issues. I'm 10 months in the diet and eating all the bananas I want without an issue.
I remember posting a while back the same concern and someone told me that eventually the intolerance goes away as the body heals. It's so true. Eventually you'll be able to eat as much as you'd like without any issues. Best of luck!

Permalink Reply by Esperanza Vite - The Raw Monkey on June 28, 2012 at 3:59am I used not to be able to eat bananas - it was really tough, like you said, to eat cheaply without them, but it is still possible, and very worth it in the end! I can eat 60 a day now no problem! How do you get on with dates? These make a good alternative, as do grapes. Good luck with everything, Esperanza xxx
Permalink Reply by MartinaK on June 28, 2012 at 5:33pm Yes, it's really tough, but I'll not give upp this. I have to find other alternatives. I think I will eat a lot of pears and dates instead and I have to ignore the organic fruit for a while.. Thank you for your help!
Permalink Reply by Moore on June 29, 2012 at 1:25pm Are grapes high in calories? I eat a huge bagful for a meal every day, and would love to eat more! I am also allergic to bananas, which sucks. And the first two years eating this way I ate them anyways because I wanted to get enough calories, but as soon as I stopped them, my facial acne went away completely. introduce=acne. take away=clear skin. How many grapes would I need for a suitable replacement?
Hi Martina,
Many people have issues with various food and after sometime they no longer have issues. Many it is the nightshades tomatoes peppers etc. Given several months when these things are re-introduced they are usually no longer problematic but for some it persist longer. I know I had issues with tomatoes and after a year I reintroduced them and no longer had issues.
The main reason for people having an issue is due to leaky gut, because the lining of our gut is inflamed due to previous diet (which had many food intolerances) it allows larger particles of food to pass into our system which cause issues from foods that should not.
Food intolerances are known for causng leaky gut, gluten, cassien etc (bananas is not a food intolerance).
This creates food allergies such as having issues with bananas, strawberries, etc. It can take upto 8 months to heal leaky Gut (can be shorter or longer depending on the state of your gut and how fast you heal). So try reintroducing again in a month or 2 if you have a recation, reintroduce several months after that eventually it should go away. Also because bananas is not a food intolerance means it is not causing the leaky gut, you probably eat it now and eventually it will get better in a couple of months, though it sounds like your syptoms are strong enough that it might be difficult to do so.
Food intolerances are something that you will always have as well, its like eating soap (we all are intolerant to it). So having an intolerance to gluten is something that stays with you although your body can manage it better depending on your health (its is not a natural food for us to eat). Food allergies Is something that as mentioned goes away when usually you allow the gut to heal.

Permalink Reply by MartinaK on June 28, 2012 at 9:33pm Thanks :) I'm very unsure about grammar when I write. When I talk I do not care so much, I just talk. But I guess people understand what I write even if it does not get it right everywhere :)
Permalink Reply by T on June 29, 2012 at 2:14am Your English is superb! I'm so glad you posted this, I am new an the only fruit allergy problems I have is a sensitivity to mangoes and coconut. All the advice here makes me hopeful that if I give it a few months to a year, I may be able to reintroduce mangoes again.
