Hi :) I am finding I am having trouble getting in a lb of greens a night. They do not really appeal to me and sometimes I kinda have to choke them down. I've tried a couple dressings but they were not good at masking the greens. I do try to have 1 smoothie a day with greens in it, usually about 2 cups worth. I do eat cucumber, and celery, and tomatoes too. How bad will it effect me to not get in a lb of greens a night? What are some suggestions to maybe make them more palatable? Maybe I am just not using the right kind of dressing tho I am gonna try one with cilantro if it is on the approved list - I am looking thru the topics now (are jalapenos considered hot peppers? I personally don't think they taste hot but tangy so I am just curious). Any suggestions to help me would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!
Amanda

Permalink Reply by Catherine on June 30, 2012 at 6:31pm Hi Amanda, at first I ate 90% fruits but after a while eating salads made of various greens helped me keep on track and also I felt better. The bitter taste of greens made me enjoy the sweet taste of fruits better too and brought some balance. Dressing is a huge plus ! I am a catastrophe at making them so I relate to what you say about the taste of veggies...
I found Kristina Buccaram recipes on the internet and Megan Elizabeth recipes very helpful to make delicious dishes. Also in here a lot of people are sharing their recipes... Hope you are going to find a way to feel better with the veggies !
Permalink Reply by Amanda Parrish on June 30, 2012 at 7:08pm Ok :) well I feel a little relieved that the greens may taste better to me later and that I am not harming myself by skipping the large amounts at first!! I love fruits so that is super easy to do, and I don't crave fats either so I haven't had overt fats like avocado but 2 times in 3 weeks, and for some reason I couldn't get avocado out of my mind those 2 times, so I listened to my body and ate some. I will check those KB and ME recipes out too. Thanks for the help!

Permalink Reply by Esperanza Vite - The Raw Monkey on July 1, 2012 at 9:54pm What greens have you tried? Some people really don't enjoy lettuce for example, but love baby spinach or pak choi, so you could always try something new and see if you like it more. But like everyone else said, if you're not craving greens just take a break from them for now and introduce them again when you feel the need for them. Take care, Esperanza xxx
Permalink Reply by Amanda Parrish on July 2, 2012 at 11:41am Well I have eaten green leaf lettuce, baby spinach, a spring mix with baby spinach and arugula and radichio, and romaine hearts...it is what I can conveniently get that's organic. I put baby spincah or kale in my smoothies usually too, but it just about 2 large handfuls...maybe 2 cups. I have just been walking so far for exercise, so mayb I'm not really expelling a lot of minerals (not a high stress person either), but I will be stepping it up by the end of this week doing more cardio and weight training so maybe I will start to crave the greens then?
