Good Juicer for greens and vegetables? Recommendations PLEASE!

I wanna get a juicer for mostly celery,  greens, and other veggies but theres too much info out there and i am getting a bit confused. i ve heard good stuff about the vertical omega and huron but not sure. please help if you know of juicers that oxidize less, that are good at extracting and separate the pulp better. thanx

Get you some paint strainer bags from Home Depot and try out the blendtek if you can.  I think the omega 8006 would be a good choice though, that is the juicer I'm most interested in trying now as well.  I've been thinking about selling my Green Star and using the money for a omega 8006.

If you go with an 8006, see if you can find a Bed Bath and Beyond that carries it in stock and find you a 20% off coupon (even if it's expired they will take it).  It will only cost you $260 plus tax.  Another plus is you can return it for a full refund for any reason.

i'll check out Bed Bath and Beyond- good tip. I was thinking Amazon cos theres no ca sales tax. I will go get some bags and give it a try- another great tip. the breville seems easy to use and thats a plus. i am not big on chopping and prepping so hopefully the omega 8006 is not too high maintenance that way. chopping is somewhat of a deal breaker for me.

Hm, in that case, go with the Breville. All the other juicers require you to slice, chop somewhat. Cucumbers, apples, beets, carrots will need to be narrowed. The Breville however will just gobble them up in whole, and spit out the fiber, giving you lots of juice, a bit frothy, but good enough. I found the pulp way too wet in the Breville, so my financial sense was crying a bit. Omega 8006 will have a drier pulp.

Breville sounds like a good all around juicer but i am most interested in greens - parsley, kale, nettles and such and i have heard the breville is not very good with greens? i have a centrifugal juicer now and although its terrible with greens i re-juice everything -2-3 times and it does great that way lol

Definitely! Go with Omega, but not the vertical ones, they will clog up way too easily. Single gear will do fine. I'm just about to juice dandelions, parsley, kale, cilantro, carrot, celery, ginger, apple, fennel and a slice of lemon. Yum! ..in my old Omega 8005

I had an Omega. Actually I had three of them. It was my first juicer. I don't know what all the models are like or if they've improved. I prefer the Greenstar for greens.

Hey Alena, you're in Glendale aren't you? If you want to come by some time and check out the Greenstar, I'd be happy to demonstrate and let you try it. It's hands down the best juicer I've ever used especially for greens.

Wow this is an old post. I suppose you've gotten something by now. :)

hey Mark, thanx for the offer. are you in glendale? have you hiked the wildwood canyon trail?

i had an old juicer and a professional blender and thats what i was using. i have been juicing on and off for years. but i am not big on it. hopefully i will like the omega enough so that i dont want anything else :)

I'm in Silverlake, although I ride through Glendale often. I haven't hiked that trail although I do want to start checking out the trails. So many around here.

I just made celery parsley ginger juice in the blendtek with a nutmilk bag i found at home and its exceptional! i am so surprised. i think i will still get the omega 8000s but thats a good option as well.

It really is high quality juice.  :)  The only two draw backs are that straining can be a chore (still beats most juicer clean up though) and that you have to ad water.  But really even with adding water there isn't much of a difference in taste, just gives you more to have to drink.

I did a yield test between my vitamix and vert and surprisingly they both had about the same amount of pulp leftover.

yes, agreed. takes less time than juicing. dont know why.... but it does. and the juice with the nutmilk bag is ultra pure, no pulp at all. looks like less pulp left over than when i juice it so its great. i am glad i tried it :) ihave a feeling it wont be as good for carrots and such. i will experiment. also not sure if oxidation is higher because the blender is high rpms...
