Gary Yourofsky - Intro to Vegan Speech at Georgia Tech

i encountered gary through a rather amusing set of circumstances. he is one powerful advocate for animals! his website is www.adaptt.org (and was featured on towardsfreedom about a month ago)

I can't stop watching his speech, severel times now in the past few days. Also sent it to my friends and family!

One of my friends interned at peta with gary and only has wonderful things to say! He's an all around amazing person!

yes gary is one of the bright, uncompromising points in this movement.

he emphasizes one important aspect that many try to avoid for various reasons: that we need deeds not just words.

it is good that he's getting the increased airtime because he certainly put himself out on a limb for the defenceless!

oh i thought i told you this bigG, but may be i'm mistaken.

when i was doing a site for vegan interviews gary's stuff was considered gold by the person who's site it was. then she read some of his stuff on violence and started doubting herself (with pressure from others in her camp). eventually, she got up the nerve to write him a sweet (but somewhat condescending) email saying you're stuff is great but couldn't you take out the violence ... it would be so much better etc.

now you don't do that to gary.

she got back a long and somewhat hostile response and was quite shaken up.

so i decided to intervene a bit and smooth things over.

however, she refused to have him on her site, so i put him up on tf. :D

he wrote thanking me with an admonition that he wouldn't appreciate my removing him like she had.

i told him there wasn't a thing he should be worried about. :D

he's been there for a couple of years and i plan to send him a donation if he'll ever get that paypal mechanism working (this part you already may know, because i think you had mentioned the idea to him in the first place - though you probably never got my copy of the email to him).

i also asked freelee to help him out on the paypal thing if she could since she's an expert at all this.
