So my hubby convinced me to go to nutricionist to talk about my diet the guy, told me that:
1. white sugars=fructose
2. I will be diabetic
3. My body fat will increase because my diet its full of carbs
4. That I should be eating 60% carbs, 20% protein and 20% fat
5. That I need aminoacids and veg and fruits dont have them all.
6. protein from veg and fruit are not good/complete
Ok, so full BS. I tried to reason with him, but I giggle few times as well :p
Now Im getting blood test for him to confirm that Im lacking/have compromised:
1. vit D
2. B12
3. Iron
4. High Blood sugar
5. Liver funtion
6. cholesterol
7. Kidney Funtion
He also recommened Sun warrior protein shake and this article.

My question: How do I prepare for the blood test? will be the day after tomorrow.

Maybe you can show your boyfriend this vid: it's from alison andrews website. A doctor looking at blood test from her boyfriend, also a raw vegan. Compared with a SAD eating colleague. Interesting stuff

Permalink Reply by CocoSofia on January 11, 2012 at 2:14am 153 i slow for b12? I will get shots, and sun for vit D.
But How about potassiun 5.4, tryglicerides 2.32, cholesterol 0.46 vldl and blood urea nitrogen 1.2?
Permalink Reply by Jim Pilrose on January 11, 2012 at 6:48am Your cholesterol and tryglicerides were a little high. Do you eat nuts and salads with oils? If so, that could be the reason. Those to indicators usually indicate too much fat which could be from too many nuts, seeds and oils. Everything else looks fine. Getting more Vit B12 and D are always a good option.
Permalink Reply by CocoSofia on January 11, 2012 at 2:20pm I eat a handful of nuts every 4 days, and avocado every 10 days?
No oils.
Permalink Reply by Chuckster on January 11, 2012 at 3:12pm I don't eat overts and also have higher cholesterol and trigs. It is puzzling. But cholesterol is converted to vitamin D so getting good sun might help.
Permalink Reply by CocoSofia on January 11, 2012 at 10:44pm Thanks Chuckster, I would love to read about that. I dont get sun because I get like 20 new freckles everytime, some Dr said it was hormones but Im not sure what causes Hyper pigmentation on me, I will look into Cholesterol/Vit D relation.. :)
Permalink Reply by WendyE on January 11, 2012 at 10:58pm Hi Sofia! I'm not too far from you, just down the road in Muscat!
Did you have any digestion problems that drove you to the vegan diet? I had MANY, and also had these deficiencies on a regular (SAD) diet. They were from the digestion not working properly, no absorption (I found later I have Celiac's). At the time I had very low vitamin D I was on a regular (meat) diet and spending up to 4 hours per day in the sun with little or no sunscreen. Clearly the deficiency was not from lack of sun or my diet!
I understand your problems with sun! For most of the year it is SO HOT here that just a few minutes in the sun can burn you. You shouldn't need tons of sunlight to get enough vitamin D. For children I know that 5 minutes exposure per day to only hands & face is enough.
If you're getting at least that much, your body may still be recovering from absorption problems!
Next summer I will be retested after being gluten free for nearly two years and vegan for many months. I hope to see the vitamin D improved & will report back. ;-) Best of luck -
Editing to add: from the look of your triglycerides, going on this diet was a GOOD idea! You really should be checked in another 6 months to see if that has come down, and how you're faring. It would also be good ammo against those who criticize.
Permalink Reply by CocoSofia on January 12, 2012 at 3:57am Hey Wendy! Just down the road, I go like 5 times at years, nice to see someone on the region doing 80 10 10, Yes I get sunlight daily indirectly, but I dont tanned, I did have slow digestion before and liked spicy food, I read somewhere it can be related?, even with this hot 'winter' its difficult to not get sunburn being outside, so I will leg-belly tann in the morning or late afternoon them!
I will friend you, keep me posted if you come to Dubai, I will do the same :D
