I guess this is a semi-rant ;-)
I was just sitting in bed with the sun shining in eating gooey dates (yes breakfast in bed) and started thinking....
One thing i've noticed over the years (since being a promoter of a high carb raw vegan lifestyle), is something interesting happens when certain folks/fans of ours fall off this lifestyle. They promptly go back to eating tortured animal bits and pieces (which is extremely saddening for me), and become bitter, resentful, develop a penchant to lie and basically all round HATEFUL of us :-/ Out of the blue WE are now responsible for how THEY feel. It's kinda like we suddenly have kids we didn't know about! I thought Durianriders vasectomy took care of that already! ;-O Please remember we aren't your parents, we are not responsible for the actions you take in life and promoting fruits and vegetables is NOT dangerous! Sigh…I won't lie, it IS disappointing. Durianrider, he is the MOST giving person I know, he loves nothing more than to see other people succeed in life and gives SO much of himself to increase the chance of this happening. His methods of helping some folks may not always make him popular BUT they are REAL and he is a very kind person with a heart of gold.
What I find ironic is the recommendations we gave these undercarbed folks WAS freely accepted (and met with unending gratitude) but is now deemed to be dangerous, irresponsible and unfair!! ( READ THE REST OF BLOG HERE

Permalink Reply by Athena on June 17, 2012 at 2:57pm You're absolutely right Freelee. Such people who make themselves victims (especially those who resort back to harmful ways of eating and finding fault with 811, aka. THE way to live) are the ones who responsible for their failures.
For me it's impossible not to be motivated. In fact my living 811-lfrv is not even a question of motivation to me, rather it is simply so (just like breathing).
^^Hopefully I'm making sense...
Both of you are great and both with hearts of gold. I owe both of you many thanks. Your speeches, videos, and simply your presence are wonderful and inspiring.

Those dates looks sooo gooey. I'm jealous, I can't get them that way right now :)
Permalink Reply by Vice Abattoir on June 17, 2012 at 3:15pm I think it's mainly the hostility towards omnivores that are shown in the videos, and from the community, that make people feel as if their right of choice is taken away, rather than any other fact surrounding the diet itself.
People who expect X result and end up with Y result, for any reason whatsoever, they might feel cheated out of the "promise" made.
Personally, if i fail a diet, i don't blame the people who inspired me to try it out, some people thrive, some don't. The ones who don't and chose to change paths, SHOULD just say "thanks for all the bananas" and part their way, but alot of people are bitter and if they "fell in love" too much with their mentors, they become that bitter-ex who first worshipped you and now you're "that bitch/bastard".
This be, the human nature. Sadly.
Permalink Reply by L on June 17, 2012 at 4:35pm You know, there was a saying that said something in terms of how love and hate are practically the same thing, but just on opposite ends of each other.
And I agree, I just move right along... or look deep within myself and ask what, if anything, I did wrong.

IMO, I think the problem with 30BaD is that it is alive and well. 30BaD is not just some pubmed site that robotically spews out facts and figures and leaves those things open to personal interpretation.
30BaD forces people to awaken from the slumber, whether it is health, diet, animal rights, or environmental issues. In many discussions and blogposts, we are forced to think about our lifestyles, forced to feel guilty about the harm we do to ourselves and to the earth, forced to think outside the box, forced to consider the unconventional, to go against culture, religions, even disobey our parents.
30BaD separates the grown ups from the juveniles:D

Permalink Reply by L on June 18, 2012 at 6:10am I would agree with this as well, PK. Perhaps I didn't express myself fully. I meant to equate those two, love and hate, as terms often used in infatuation, regardless of what side of the pole it is on. I feel like people overuse the word "love" without knowing its true meaning. Anything that you love takes time, dedication, patience, and persistence. That is how true love for something grows into something deeper. There are no quick fixes.
Relating this to 30BaD, some people will think they love this lifestyle, only to discover what they may have felt was an infatuation. To truly love this lifestyle may come immediately for some, and it may take time to develop for others. For me, it has been the latter for the same reasons you have stated. I take my time. I cannot rush. Reason being is that 30BaD has given me a WAKE-UP call like no other.
It takes time, dedication, patience, and perseverance to be successful in this lifetime and with such, you develop love for it. Not an infatuation. Not an unhealthy obsession. Love. Symbiotic love. Because just as you are reaping benefits from eating the abundance that nature has to offer, you are giving back karma of the same frequency. You help nature, with love. Nature, helps you, with love.
No pointing fingers. No I hate you's. Just peace and love.

Ly great to hear your thoughts :)
I could not have more love for you and Harley. I had left a comment on your youtube channel the other day about how you two saved my life. You two have motivated me to get off my bum and DO something about feeling like crap and gaining weight. You two tell it like it is. I was a lazy person who needed to get up and change her life. To quit feeling sorry for myself. I am responsible for me, nobody else. This way of eating has changed my life. I will be eternally grateful to you and Harley. Thank you so much for speaking out and being beacons of health. <3
Permalink Reply by Richie Fruitbat on June 17, 2012 at 6:07pm I've read stuff by ex members who are now haters, and they say stuff like "I gave all my power away to 30BAD", "It's a cult mindset" etc etc. It confuses me a little bit to be honest. I mean, 30BAD is a fricken website! nothing more, nothing less. You are free to look at it and take the advice, or not, as you see fit. Eat fruit, don't eat fruit. Your choice! Some of these people need to get a grip. Great post "BananaGirl"!
