30 Bananas a Day!

First period in 5 years. Cramps & suffering. ( kinda graphic guys beware)

So I hadn't had my period in 5 years due to eating disorders & hormonal issues. Before that my periods were AWFUL I'd be so doped up on pain meds, unable todo anything, covered in zits, extremely weak & tired, moody & emotionally unstable.

Now this is my first period ( in 5 years) as a LFRV & while I'm emotionally stable this time around, have energy, only got two pimples, & without pain meds.

My cramps are so incredibly bad that they have brought me to tears & dry heaving  a lot more then once in the last three days.  Other then what I  am currently physically obligated todo ( meaning I have no choice so suck it up princess), I can't exercise or move with excruciating pain. Seriously, even walking feels like I'm going to die:(

This period has also been super heavy & I have virtually no appetite at all. I've been forcing myself to eat though, because I'm defiantly a mess without my fruit & greens.


So girls, any tips other then a hot water bottle & rest?

Any specific fruits or greens that help?

 

ps. I haven't eaten any fats for over a month.

I've been 100% no slip ups LFRV for about 7 months now total ( it's been longer maybe!)

I drink 3-6 liters of water a day.

And sleep 6-10 hours a night.

And eat 3000-6000 calories a day. TONS of greens roughly 500-2000 calories worth.

Spinach and almonds are higher in magnesium.   I hope you feel better soon!!
I'm pretty sure I've gotten more then enough magnesium at 1900 mgs a day. but maybe not:)

You may need to be overt free for several months to not experience cramps. Since you have not had your period in a long time, it may be that your body is just getting rid of a lot of crap this first time around. I suffered with severe menstrual cramps for 20 years, but after 3 months LFRV with no overts they were non-existent. This has been the experience of many women on this site. Hang in there and give it a little more time. (p.s. I had eaten all raw with overts for several years and always had cramps in spite of being all raw.)

I'll make sure to cut out the fats for 6 months or so and see if it helps.  I didn't know it can take awhile.

 

Do your cramps lessen when you go overt free?

yes, absolutely. no more cramps at all as long as I stay overt free. the only exception may be chia seeds which are high in omega 3 fats (anti-inflammatory). I have been including a tablespoon in my diet for two months now and they don't seem to have brought the cramps back.

I think I can afford to go overt free for atleast 6 months. I'm not lacking in the omega department without them. I got 9 grams of omega 3 & 7 grams of omega 6 without overts yesterday. 

 

I'm very excited for a future of cramp free periods! I'll let you know how it goes for me after 6 months.

I think going overtfree will really help. I had way to many overts last month and that resulted in pain that was way worse than when I didn't have had so many avo's and nuts... I'm staying away from them now. Let's keep each other posted ;-)

I also had eating disorders that prevented me to not have my period for over a year. (ofc not comparable to your case) however i know the pain your reffering too! i had alot to, but it didnt go on for much longer on the next couple periods. Mabye its just the bodies, shock of having the first period. I dont know if your into this, or even heard of reiki. but from personal experience this can really help :) hope you feel better!

ps- i might as you for a couple tips on the LFRV diet, as i just started and am having a hard time eating and drinking half as much as you!! :)
