Permalink Reply by silke on oh yeah, i am happy to be on the canaries ... papayas here are between 1 & 2 euros per kg, now that they are in season! :)
Permalink Reply by For_The_Love_Of_Fruit on where in the Canaries?? Lucky you! I have worked in Tenerife for a season as an animator in a chain of hotels!! That was a few years ago, and I still remember it was the first place on earth where I saw real organic medjool dates for sale (on a candy store! lol!)! Up till then I had only come across the deglet noor variety and had never seen organic ones for that matter.

Permalink Reply by For_The_Love_Of_Fruit on Oh Tenerife as well? What a coincidence! Where you born there, or you just moved there from some place else? I'm in Portugal at the moment...though I've lived all over the world. I really can't remember where the store was, I know it was close to a beach... but then again, lol, there's tons of beaches around the island. Maybe close to Playa de los Cristianos, but I could be totally wrong, it's been years, I'm not even sure the place still exists.

Permalink Reply by silke on yes, lol, close-to-a-beach isn't really helpful on an island like this ... doesn't matter, it's not that important. if i should be in need of medjool dates some day i will find some.
i'm german, living in tenerife for about 15 months now & yearning to go on getting to know new places. although the finca i stay at the moment is really wonderful!
