Permalink Reply by Emily ♥ on October 2, 2011 at 2:18pm My faves are Khadrawi and Honey. Both very sweet. Khadrawi is a bit more gooey with a deeper taste, but the Honeys are so good and still pretty wet. I like them equally. I ordered a box split between the two, and I'm a happy camper right now.

Permalink Reply by Diane L on October 2, 2011 at 2:44pm i just got a 5lb box of the Honey's. They are really sweet and probably every 10th date is gooey wet (but very tasty). Slightly off topic, can I just leave these dates in the box they came in from Bautista or should I put em in an airtight container? Or should I refridge em?
thx.
Permalink Reply by Diane L on October 2, 2011 at 11:35pm I wouldn't leave them in that box. Some type of plastic container which is airtight would be best I think. Just make sure the container is clean.
I put mine in Ziplock bags which has worked well, but it would be more ecological to use a reusable plastic airtight container.
It's a balancing act between avoiding their getting moldy and keeping them as delicious as possible. They are most delicious not being refrigerated but they can get moldy when left out. And since each group of dates have traveled a different path and sometimes you don't know where they've been before that and how long they have been sitting around somewhere (not the case with 7hotdates) - it's a judgement call each time.
Since I don't have much storage space outside the frig left at this moment I just put them all in the frig when I got them from 7hotdates - I also wanted to be on the safe side. But you could experiment with leaving some out and some in and see how they do. Usually dates are sold unrefrigerated so they obviously can do OK out of the frig.

Permalink Reply by 100datesaday on October 2, 2011 at 5:40pm I am just having fresh and juicy Medjool dates, 43gr. each... OMG!!!
For me it's more about the freshness then about the variety.
