What is your favorite bodyweight exercise? Second favorite, third?
1) I have a hard time choosing, but I'd have to say burpees and all the variations you can do with burpees. They make me feel aliiiiiive.
2) Jump lunges. Those make my butt feel amazing. It's no coincidence people are always commenting on my bubble butt. "How do you get that butt?" "Ummmm, just do these..." as you observe the fear in their eyes.
3) Leg lifts. I have a dip station, on which I do my leg lifts. Good stuff.

Permalink Reply by Nate on April 12, 2012 at 9:25am High rep sets of Hindu squats are probably my favorite alternating with Divebomber pushups. Burpee intervals are great too!
Permalink Reply by Francesca on April 12, 2012 at 1:17pm Good choices, Nate. I totally concur, especially on the divebombers pushups. I feel like those benefit me more than regular pushups. I bet you could do a divebomber push-up, go back into position, do a burpee, then finish with a Hindu squat, and repeat for an awesome routine. See, this is why I started this thread. Friends=more ideas.
Permalink Reply by wataFruit on April 12, 2012 at 4:38pm Play music or create your own beat so you can do dancing dip variations on parallel bars. SUPER FUN SUPER ADDICTING.
Permalink Reply by Francesca on April 13, 2012 at 12:06pm I have to try this. What an idea. Too bad I suck at dips, something I'm working on. I can only do a few good ones before I have to go on one foot to take off some weight.
Permalink Reply by Justin Morgan on April 13, 2012 at 12:50am These are my favorites, not necessarily the most effective.
1, hand stand push ups
2, muscle ups
3, The motion on gymnastics rings of going from dip position to handstand position
Permalink Reply by Francesca on April 13, 2012 at 12:07pm Aaaaaaa muscle ups! These are like the "heighth" of bodyweight exercises. My ex-boyfriend taught me how to do them, but I haven't practiced. They're SO HARD. Not necessarily the most effective? You crazy.
Permalink Reply by Justin Morgan on April 13, 2012 at 11:25pm LOL well, I just meant I was picking motions based on them being my favorite to perform, not on if they were effective for muscle building. But if they weren't effective for muscle building, I probably wouldn't worry about doing them. I love calisthenics. I quit lifting weights about 7 months ago, and only use calisthenics now. I've been moving into a new house the last couple weeks and didn't work out. I tried to start back yesterday and tried a few muscle ups. Wasn't happening....... I can usually only do a couple when I'm still fresh, but they are pretty fun.
Permalink Reply by Robbie Belmonte on April 17, 2012 at 1:20am I have to say pushups for the upper body and body weight moves for the legs for me are my favorites.

Permalink Reply by AJ on April 17, 2012 at 5:15am this is such a great thread! i'm a huge fan of planks and reverse crunches, there's also a move where you get on all fours and repeatedly kick one leg up behind you then switch to the other leg.. i call it the butt-buster. that's what it does, busts your butt right into shape! i just did a great workout on my yoga mat with the 3 moves i just mentioned, plus burpees, hindu squats, and dive-bomber push ups which i'm happy to see are also real popular here =]
Permalink Reply by Francesca on April 17, 2012 at 9:56am Oh, that kicking move sounds amazing. When you say all fours, do you mean with your face facing the floor or the "crab" position? I may experiment with that, but alternating legs kicking really fast, haha. Your workout sounds great. I did some balancing stuff yesterday. It's amazing the results you get from working intensely in short periods of time.
Permalink Reply by Hayley Zedel on April 19, 2012 at 4:42am I love burpees too! When I've been sitting for too long I like to get up and do 10 burpees and then i feel better :)
