Permalink Reply by Greenmama on May 25, 2012 at 1:28am People who are under-carbed can't sleep because their brain doesn't produce adequate seratonin. I got a graphic illustration of this from my husband. He had a diabetic crisis where sugar was not getting into his cells (long story). His body consumed all its excess fat and then actually started consuming its own muscle because it couldn't get any glucose into the cells. One of his main symptoms was insomnia. In fact, it was the most noticeable symptom to him, because he could only sleep 2-3 hours a night and was no longer able to function, and that symptom was the one that finally got him to go to the doctor.

Permalink Reply by Greenmama on May 25, 2012 at 6:40am Actually, he didn't say fruitarian, he said fruit-it-tarian. LOL!

Permalink Reply by Amanda Lily on May 25, 2012 at 4:51am I do enjoy listening to this guy to some extent but I am surprised by this comment. Too bad he didn't look up durianrider before answering the question. For myself, on HCLFRV I need more sleep than when I was high fat raw vegan. But I also have more energy thus live a very active lifestyle and spend my days chasing a (extremely active) three year old, running a household, and I started a business. I wake up and get up easily every morning and can be productive pretty much the whole day from the minute I wake up until shortly before I go to bed. Maybe frutarians need more sleep bc they live more? But also when he says fruitarian does he include leafy greens?
