I've been sleeping with a box fan on "HIGH" every night for the past 25 years and I'm just wondering if anyone else here feels that it would be almost impossible to fall asleep and stay asleep without a fan on at night to cover up the sound of loud traffic, neighbors, or room mates that would otherwise wake you up.

Permalink Reply by AlyssaBanana on December 7, 2012 at 9:08am I do that too!! My mom told me to turn on the fan when I was around 11 years old.. It was really hot and she wouldn't turn on the ac. Here I am at 29, and I can't sleep without my fan. My fiance was nice enough to buy me a mini travel fan for my birthday. I was in tears lol. It was the most thoughtful gift anyone has ever given me (aside from the diamond blingy ring. Wowza!).
I wish I could break the habit and sleep through anything but I just can't.
I've read that if your parents kept the room quiet when you slept as a baby, then any noises would most likely wake you up. I am sure practice can break this habit, but who wants to spend sleepless nights trying to relearn how to sleep? Not me.

Permalink Reply by Jared Six on December 9, 2012 at 9:34am I finally broke the "not being able to sleep without a fan" habit here in Costa Rica. I am staying in room that is right next to a river (as well as far away from the city) and the sound of the river makes the sound of a fan completely unnecessary.
