After my Mum died 6 weeks ago I "inherited" my Dad, who has Alzheimer's. I immediately put him on a raw food diet as well as taking him off all the medication.
Within 1 week he got over his 5 year long depression even though we had to bury my Mum during that time. This is huge for him. I sort of expected him to start getting better in his mind as well, but that is not going anywhere.
It is about 6 weeks now since I started him on the raw food diet and I am overloading him on smoothies. I have noticed that his eyes are brighter and his forever runny nose has slowed down as well, but I am really interested to know if anybody has any experiences with Alzheimer's and Dementia.
Can it be reversed even a little? I really would do anything to make my Dad better.

That is ok. Sleep is good. Most of the healing occurs when we sleep, not when we are awake. Let his body do his thing. As long as he has some sunshine exposure, food and exercise to balance it out.
Take care

People who tend to engage in these activities throughout the lifetime will tend to have a lower incidence of dementia, probably because they're more intelligent to begin with and therefore have a greater cognitive reserve (although once dementia is diagnosed, the disease will be more advanced).... :)
Permalink Reply by andrius7 on January 7, 2012 at 12:36am I dont know about the raw food for alzheimers, but Gary Null claims using his protocols which includes vegan diet and supplements cured alzheimers.
Also you may look at the coconut oil cure for Alzheimers, even though I am against high fat diet, but in such case may worth trying, as one doctor cured his husband's alzheimer using MCT (medium chain trygliceride) oil, which is basicly coconut oil. http://www.naturalnews.com/030919_coconut_oil_Alzheimers.html
