That depends on the individual and their background.
Obese people doing this diet 100% will lose right away. Underweight and or anorexics will probably gain.
People who come from an eating disordered background may gain some weight as the body is a self regulating machine and will strive for a weight that is healthy for it.
People who previously did not eat much fiber will have full intestines, people without muscle mass may gain muscle mass, people with osteoporitic bones may gain bone density.
In these cases, the scale may increase while measurements decrease and or clothing continues to fit.
****
On a raw fruit diet, people go to bed fat and wake up flat as fruit is full of much needed fiber and other nutrients such as vitamins and minerals.

Permalink Reply by Justin Morgan on May 31, 2012 at 1:10pm I 2nd PK, that was a great response. I wake up at 175 and am over 185 by bed time. So you're question shouldn't be focused on weight, but on the 4 letter word that nobody wants to use...... FATT. No, you won't get fat, but yes if you do it right, you'll gain weight (through the day). If you don't mind me saying so, you already look pretty excellent in your photo, and ideally HCRV will only improve your health and fitness.

Honestly FitNHotKitty focusing on weight is just wrong. Even though I can understand why some people here worry about that. I come from an eating-disordered background myself (Binge-Eating-Disorder from early childhood to 14 years followed by anorexia until I was 16 or 17). I've been at least 9 years clean since then, stopped having thoughts causing me to relapse since I immigrated. But since going 811, I'm feeling even better about myself and learning not to give a sh** about whether I gain or lose, as long as I'm living right. :)

Permalink Reply by DURIANRIDER on May 31, 2012 at 10:45pm Judging by slim bodies of ALL of the fruity women that have been doing this for a few years and a noob worrying about getting fat, thats like an Australian worrying they will get heatstroke walking naked in Antarctica.
Its like wrapping yourself in 2yard thick foam and getting a 4 year old to kick you and worrying you might break a rib.
Its like worrying you will die from blood loss after a mosquito bite.
Just by results vs theory...
Just say'n. ;)
Permalink Reply by ORGANIC811LFRV on May 31, 2012 at 10:45pm I have always consistently lost weight almost daily at first when on 100% raw and low fat, no overt fats. 80/10/10 works beautifully for me and many others. Sleep, water, exercise, outdoors are all crucial elements. Detox will happen so be prepared. And of course READ THE BOOK!!!
Permalink Reply by Jessie James on June 1, 2012 at 12:13am Some do some don't. But it's only water weight. This lifestyle is the opposite of a diet. On a diet you lose water weight first, then some fat, and then usually gain it all back. Diets are unsustainable, LFHC lifestyle is. A slim lean body is the result of long term success :) I gained and peaked at 13 plus pounds and now it's starting to reverse. It was hard to deal with the initial water weight gain but I was already seeing results so I stuck with it. Right away my mood was better, PMS was easier, sleeping was a 10, my skin looked clearer, my digestion was so incredible....I wanted more of this and just tried to forget about the water weight. I am so glad I did.

On a fruity diet, 8 pounds is based on water and volume weight. It is impossible to gain 8 pounds of fat in one day.
Now your tiredness may be based in detox. When we remove toxic foods from our diet, and replace them with body and tissue building foods, the body gets a chance to rest, rebuild, repair, and clean house. This process may translate into tiredness for a few days for some people. That is ok. Listen to your body, give it the rest it needs, and you will come through this better than ever.
Since this discussion was posted, I have put together two blog posts that might address some of your concerns. First is that we should focus on health and make sure we are getting enough calories to avoid deficiencies and malnutrtion:
The next blog post addressed reasons for healthy weight gain in some individuals:
Nutrient Dense Calories
Volume of Water and Fruit
Proper Hydration
Intestines Contain Soluble Fiber and Fluid
Bone Density Increase
Muscle Mass Increase
Healthier Body Tissues and Organs
Increase in Healthy Body Fat

Are you feeling better today?
Do you have any specific questions about any specific topic?

Permalink Reply by DURIANRIDER on August 7, 2012 at 10:57am You should gain 17lbs on your first day here. 100% of it will be from fat cos of all the fructose. Try and just eat celery leaves and collard juice.
Don't listen to PK cos they are making too much sense.

Permalink Reply by Sunny Garcia on August 7, 2012 at 1:32pm I have freaked out about this so many times, Im so over it I couldnt care less if I gain weight. Im on my first month and I have gained weight, but I was doing many things wrong, eating salts, fats, and transitional foods, so I only have a few days being error free and truly 100% and in these few days I have noticed weight loss.
If you think about it youve been eating unhealthy all your life, it has taken years to develop and Ed and other harmful things youve done to you body. So people expect that within the first week of the diet they should notice all the benefits: not true. Its a slow process but youll get there. Patience and dedication is what ive learned.
