Some dates I buy (deglet noor, non organic) are very sticky and super sweet in a funny way.
I wonder if they can add sugar without saying so on the label sometimes ?

Permalink Reply by Kaybee on May 16, 2011 at 9:29pm not sure if they can add it without saying, but ALL of the deglet noirs in ireland and here in italy have glucose syrup added (unless you buy them organic from health food store). so annoying. and gross. and...STUPID!!!!!!!!! dates are already pure sugar!!!!!
similarly, alot of dried fruit (raisins, dates) i find are coated in vegetable oil, i guess to prevent sticking, and that is NOT on the ingredient list often. or its very hidden. BLEEEH.

I'll always buy them organic from now on.
It's too much a risk to keep adding so much refined sugar on a fruit which is already packed with sugars.
