I think taking your focus off your depression and eating disorder and onto another being's welfare will definitely help. There are so many aspects to consider when it comes to depression. My biggest help was to remind myself as often as needed of what I am grateful for AND that I am in control of my own mental status.

Savannah alone controls Savannah's levels of depression and happiness.

Hey Savannah, sorry to hear you aren't doing so well.

There are essentially two main reasons (and others related to these) that you can experience depression while changing your eating habits. Our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual bodies are so much more connected than we will ever understand. This lifestyle is so much more than a diet, and although it requires a lot more work it can be infinitely rewarding. As your body begins to physically awaken and release toxins, all the emotions and insecurities that you connected to those toxins will come up. Don't feel the need to over-analyze these feelings, just be aware of them and imagine yourself letting them go. More than likely, everything you've been taught about nutrition and well-being before now is wrong. That's a LOT of information to try to throw out at once. So much that you'll start to question other truths that you've held onto for your whole life. It can either be the most liberating feeling you've ever experienced or it will scare the **** out of you. As far as eating disorders go, realize that 99% of people have disordered eating. Whether or not there's a label for it, there are a million different ways people suffer from an unhealthy relationship with food. And any diet (even this one) can become disordered if you let it control your life in a negative way. Ultimately, this lifestyle should give you the freedom, energy, and love to go out and live your life to the fullest. My guru is Natalia Rose. I highly recommend you read any of her books. She once suffered from severe eating disorders and now she is SUCH a brilliant dietitian and spiritual leader. Her books have changed my life.

All my love and support,
Mary Beth

PS: I'm curious about Natalia Rose. :)

Amazing woman. She's an advocate of the HCRV lifestyle, but really emphasizes that people transition and enjoy the baby steps along the way. She goes a lot more in depth on why it's important in her book The Raw Food Detox Diet - it's incredible!

thankyou! your right on the spot! ill look in to natalie rose too:)

Don't lose hope sweetie. If possible try to think positive. Hope you feel more optimistic about everything very soon and your depression lifts.

Have your B12 and uMMA levels checked. And maybe check out this post for insight into my experience in the matter.

Hi Savannah,

Remember that diet is one important element in balancing our lives and there are so many more...

SEEEDS; Social, Emotional, Exercise, Diet, Sleep for a few not to mention hormones, spirituality, etc.!

If you continue to feel very flat for longer than two weeks and feel that your everyday life is being interfered with it can be a useful idea to visit a doctor and receive a referral to a counsellor to help you work things through..

It's great that you are seeking help on here and there are some useful groups you can find dedicated to the topic of mental health within this forum.

All the best on your journey and remember to look after yourself because you are valuable.

See group 'raw food for mental health' for one group but there are more relevant to your question too!
