LOL, that is one smart date...
Permalink Reply by Chris Califano on October 14, 2011 at 7:09am Great breathe of fresh air, Chris. I actually sent your video to some women I know who are "over-weight" (at least they think so-- and they are a bit plump, but for many reasons... ) Point is that I have personally gained fat from eating too many calories from fruit. And I am a skinny genetic. Of course I noticed it around my waist of course and since I am so in tune with my body for the last 35 years that I have been an athlete, I corrected it. No big deal. But calories are calories when it comes to energy storage in the long run. Too much makes you fat. Too little and you get skinny. Personally I hate "skinny".. since that is what I was until I learned how to truly build muscle onto a literal skeleton. But that is a whole nother issue lol!
What you did is terrific and Iove your video and attitude. Love the little talking deglet! LOL! Hey that fat poncho guy needs to be pulled off his high horse and gently dragged through the mud some more lol!
Keep it up! Great work! Gotta educate the tired, brainwashed masses where they live!- in COMMEDY-VILLE!

For myself, I've found that it's really hard to eat too many calories from fruit if you're in tune with your body. It's like when I've had enough the fruit no longer appeals to me at all. I mean, if you're watching TV, talking on the phone, snowboarding down a 80 degree angle and having an argument with your neighbor about last night's football game while pounding down as much fruit as you can, then you may not notice your body's signals telling you that you've had enough. But otherwise I find just listening to how much I need works like a charm. I guess the big thing is getting people to the stage where they're able to get in tune with their bodies enough.
And you're definitely right; I've found the best way to get a point across is to loosen it up with a bit of humor. :)

I would say it's really difficult to eat too much of any fruit. If you are in tune with your body and are able to listen to the feedback it's giving you, it will let you know straight away when you've had enough. I've even found that if even I have a small amount of food for a meal, it will tell me that I've had enough. For example if I had a really big breakfast and lunch meal and got all but approx. 400 calories of what I needed, I have eaten only 400 calories of dates for dinner because that's all I cared for/needed. I could have easily stomached several pounds of them, but they were totally unappealing and I just didn't want anymore.
So I think you'd have to be really distracted and/or forcing yourself to keep eating. Which some people could certainly do. Personally I would find that incredibly difficult and unenjoyable though!
So, "enough" is the key. Enough is when the fruit/veg doesn't taste at all good anymore ie. all you care for! :)

Permalink Reply by Iona Bellydance on October 22, 2011 at 11:59am Stupid question perhaps, but are they fresh or dried dates? Dates I find in super markets (uk) are dried varieties..my favourite being medjool. I've looked for fresh dates online but are very expensive so, I make do with what I can get.. Banana's are very cheap. I'm Lucky enough to live near a supermarket that bags all the bruised ones for pennies...well usually about 6 bananas's for 30p...So, I grab them and get them when I can.
Keep up the good work! Must try a fresh date some day!
