30 Bananas a Day!

Hi Everyone, I have a question about dates. Do I have to eat fresh dates? If I eat dried dates is this a problem? I know that dates are quite a staple in this lifestyle so want to make sure i'm not eating something that's bad for me. Can anyone give me a real specific description as I'm a bit confused about it!

I also included a picture!!

Fresh dates are certainly best. They are never actually "dried", they just get drier as they get older. When they are drier, I like to soak them overnight and blend them with water.

Hi, might I suggest that you don't attach photos but embed them instead, using the 'Image' tool (just to the right of the 'LINK' button), its also probably worth flipping mirrored images before uploading (-:

As for dates, I've bought boxed ones wholesale, almost all are 'dried' (I'm in the UK) the main thing being the avoidance of sulphur, which is commonly used as a preservative.

Ahhh thank you... i'll have to learn how to do both of those things, unfortunately i'm not massively technology savvy!! But i'm finding i LOVE dates!! And thats a good link thank you :D

Luckily we usually learn by/from our mistakes :-)

I've seen dates sold cheaper, there was another recent post on dates (is there a dates group, I guess I should check, though sadly it would appear that no-one maintains the groups) and I commented there.

Try to find a buying group so you can buy from Suma at wholesale prices (otherwise placing a £250 ex VAT order will get you free delivery). I suggest you join Volentia (15,300+ veg*ns, raw foodists, fruitarians), if you haven't already, and read more on there.

Possibly see you at a London/Surrey event.
