30 Bananas a Day!

so normally I don't get irritated at people, I try to live a very chill life but when I hopped on my youtube today and watched his video from the other day, heres the link: (skip to 9:30 you'll see what I'm talking about)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-j_1kNVCfo&feature=channel_vide...

He starts talking about how starving children around the world deserve to starve because of their "bad karma" in a past life. Now I have nothing against religion, except when it twists people to this point. I don't know why, but this video really got under my skin. I lost all respect I had for this guy. He also talks about a bunch of other things and the more that comes out of his mouth the worse it gets, he ends his video talking about Hitler medicine. =\

What do you guys think about this, does it bother you at all? I read comments on his video, apparently I wasn't the only person who was pissed.

this guy is telling his opinions on a youtube - he didnt ask you to watch him, he didnt ask you to follow him - who are you to impose your ideologies into him and to start this discussion publicly saying youve lost respect in him & your pissed - get over it, stop being so fragile and move on - faylinameir, practise being your own leader and exercise respecting yourself, you will find when you do this, you will begin to producing so much of your own strength and power that other peoples ideals wont effect you anymore.

remember, only a slow train gets derailed from the side - eat a good diet, keep putting fuel into that engine of yours and force through with the dignity and authority thats your own.

+10000 yes agreed Dans just being Dan, there are much larger bananas to peel then this dude

Why the uncalled for lecture? She lost respect, let her express that. This girl is telling her opinions on a forum, who are you to impose your ideologies on her and so on and so forth.
Also, the argument that people on Youtube are not asking you to watch their vids...

vegan witch:

Don't you find it ironic that someone expresses their opinion about something another person said and then you hammer them for them for it? You did the exact thing that you said someone else shouldn't do while also accusing them of being fragile when all they did is express an opinion and then ask questions.

It sounds like you are being fragile.

I haven't watched the video. Sometimes people aren't great at wording what they think. I don't know if karma exists, and if it does I don't think anyone deserves to starve or that it's our right to say so. But if that's their karma then that's their karma. If someone truly deserved a life of starvation then it would happen I suppose. But we can help, and people do. So let's keep helping if we can. Let's focus on that, then. :)

Everyone believes what they do for a reason, but we're all headed toward the same truth I think. People come from all paths in life but we're heading in the same direction. So it doesn't really bother me because I do my best to look at the big picture in this way. If you look at any one negative thing specifically, it can be hard to deal with. Try imagining why he might have said that, even if you can't understand.

And if nothing else, it made you think about the starving children around the world. It brought my attention to it and made me realize everyone really can help them, whether donating a small amount or traveling there personally. Honestly, this is what I got out of the post. :)  So while some may say things you don't like, you can be changing those things personally. :)

everyone gets caught with their foot stuck in their mouth at some point or another.  though i don't agree with everything the guy has to say, i think he's a good guy.  : )

I haven't watched the video yet but I don't agree with the idea that bad karma comes back like that...

I feel like if it WERE true, then it wouldn't be as simple as, "Oh, well, I killed a man in my last life and his family starved to death because they had no money so in this life I will starve to death as punishment." I do believe in reincarnation but I think life is more of a 'lesson' rather than a 'punishment'. You may have been put in the life as a starving child for you to LEARN that killing people is wrong so that you GAIN AN UNDERSTANDING.

I think it says more about us to ignore this problem than for someone to be in that situation by their own fault.

On that note he is entitled to his belief... I've always found Dan to be quite strong headed and almost sociopathic from his videos but I've found them useful and I think he has good intentions and is helping (and offending lol) a lot of people.

i think the lesson thing was part of what he meant.

the words lesson and punishment can be interchangeable, depending on the person. thinking of something as punishment though, you are not learning the lesson ; )

DTM touched on this subject for like 30 seconds of his whole video, and Im sure his ideas about this stuff are much more than what he shared.

Why would DTM say that lol! Its such a flakey thing to say!

"Being a person who was raped, I can tell you that to suggest that it may have something to do with my karma is very hurtful and, I think, very inaccurate. I usually love your videos and what you have to say, but I think you're way off on this one, my friend." - a comment from youtube on this vid

I read a book about past lives/near death experiences and some lady said her spirit had planned to be raped during her lifetime to instigate a change in her outlook or something like that. Not my opinion, I'm simply referencing something I read.

I've always thought Dan was a bit of a joke and don't know why everyone looks up to him so much, I'll be brutally honest here, I pity you people who are constantly looking up to others and idolizing external personalities, wasting your time watching peoples videos because you want to hear their opinions and views because they are oh so important. I never know whats going on with these things because I don't see the point unless their is something really educational about the video. Anyway, this is what you will always get. You will always get disappointment. This is mere gossip and drama.

Another thing, Dan is obviously full of himself, thinking he knows the deal about spirituality and whats going on, but he's not much more than a typical new age narcissist. Are you all not familiar with this type of person yet? They're everywhere, and they love to tell you all about things they don't even know about, but heard or read somewhere (like me at the beginning of this post! hehe). He obviously doesn't understand karma as most people don't. Like with most words, karma has come to have no stable definition because people assume they know what words mean based on assumed connotations and create their own meanings of words because they misunderstood its use and refused to look it up in the dictionary.

Anyway... why do people love these types of personalities?? Do you really not recognize the behavior? It shows through body language and speech patterns which I find very easily recognizable because they're so common and repetitive. Look for defensive body language, mostly trying to claim territory and take up a lot of space or regain ground with postures like akimbo or arms crossed (very common in law enforcement types). Language often implies the individual speaking is advanced and has some special knowledge or skills, think of it like indirect boasting, also belittles others very often in different general and indirect ways. Com'on guys, get with it.

Hey, tell a rape victim in real life that nugget of wisdom! Extraordinary insight ;)

If I thought it might help, I would. The point I wanted to make with that, is that this person says "hey, I'm a victim and I did not intend it" and someone else who had a similar situation said "apparently I planned that life experience for a reason..." and so I'm saying that people should not think that they know everything just because they had a situation and speak on behalf of others who also had that experience, because as demonstrated in this case there can be a differing of opinion.

I think in some situations it could be the will of a person's spirit, some starving people could be "burning up bad karma" but some of them could be in that situation by accident because the universe is NOT perfect. The thing to think about with karma, is this, if someone is starving because they starved someone else in a past life, was the person they starved getting rid of bad karma? If you say "yes" then you have to find the beginning of an endless chain (who starved who first?), if you say something like "maybe they agreed to have the experience of starving" then you have to consider why someone would be punished with bad karma for starving someone who agreed to be starved. This is where I believe Dan's insight to be parochial.
