Hi Samantha,
Don't feel lonesome, okay! I've heard several people say the same thing recently. It has happened to me too. It seems to me that this society is about money, material things, sex, junk food, drugs, and prescription medications. It seems that most people don't know what to do that doesn't involve smoking, drinking, doing drugs or having dysfunctional, sick relationships! We spend our whole lives killing ourselves--then when people get to be my age they decide to change everything and try to be healthy! Well, actually, most of the people my age don't want to be LFRV. One of my ex friends told me he would rather die than eat a salad. Another told me, "my diabetes is going to kill me! I embrace my diabetes...but I've already tried that diet and I didn't like it."
Have you tried going to dances? Do they have YMCA or workout clubs in NYC? Do they have Meetup.com in NYC? You can do a computer search for what activity you want to join or what special interest you have and meetup with some people who have the same interests that way. Right now might be a good time to join the Obama campaign. They would keep you busy 24/7 calling people about political issues. Have you thought of taking a course in school?
Actually, I have the same problem. I've already tried all the things I can think of that I want to do. When I try to think of something I want to do I come up with the conclusion, "been there; done that"! I just came from the library where I got a book titled, "Final Exit." I'm pretty determined not to wind up in a nursing home, and I thought I might take this opportunity to learn about "the easy way to go." OOOPS! Got to go!

tagging on to what Lee has mentioned, look into volunteering avenues. Whether it be planting trees, working in an animal rescue, feeding the homeless, knitting booties for underprivileged babies, or something else, I'm sure there's an activity out there with your name on it.
There are few greater feelings in the world than when you've completed something worthwhile that really makes a difference for another Earthling.
