Hi everyone!
I've been a vegan for over 3 years now and I am loving it! I went vegan mainly for ethical reasons for the animals and for Mother Earth. I started incorporating more and more raw food into my diet. Since reading Doug Grahams books 80/10/10 Diet and Grain Damage I have incorporated more and more organic raw fruits and vegetables into my diet. However even though I am striving to learn all I can, I have a difficult time getting rid of the cooked foods. I still consume about 20% of my meals as cooked, even though I try to steam most of it.
I feel as if cooked foods are addictive. Whenever I eat raw, I have such cravings for cooked foods. So to combat this I try not to keep cooked foods in my home. When I go out it is hard not to eat cooked foods as most of my friends are vegan cooked junkies. And even though there are raw vegan restaurants in Toronto where I live, most of them are expensive and some have sauces and I presume are high fat.
A lot of the potlucks also have cooked vegan foods and I don't want to miss out on them... I don't know if I'll ever go 100% raw, but I'd like to strive at least for 90-95% raw, with most of the food being fruit of course. but who know!
Any opinions on how to get the cooked foods out of my life, but still enjoy being with friends at vegan restaurants and potluck, where they serve mostly cooked foods?
Thank you!

I started this journey mainly for the health benefits and I too love cooked vegan....but very low or no fat. And I like mono meals. All potatoe or rice...beans. I'm mostly raw though....about 85%. I'm not looking to become total raw, I've come a long way baby just doing what I'm doing now. And I haven't any complaints.

Permalink Reply by Whitedi ellen on June 12, 2012 at 4:59pm I would have to agree bmoojeni....I think cooked vegan is just that, cooked vegan. It's the only healthy way to eat along with raw. I don't have food cravings when I stick to a clean raw and cooked vegan lifestyle.
