Hey all, I am a complete 811 newb and just started 3.56 days ago. I don't think I can stick to this whole "raw" thing at first, so I want to transition using cooked food! What is your favorite way to cook bananas? I think it would be easier for me this way. I was thinking I could steam them, but it might be better to put them in the microwave. Your thoughts?
Also I was thinking of drizzling corn syrup on them, is this bad?

Permalink Reply by KKG on April 6, 2012 at 5:31am Why would you want to cook bananas? Why not eat the bananas raw and steam potatoes or something?

Permalink Reply by Lucid Catnaps on April 6, 2012 at 6:48am Did you eat cooked bananas before you decided to try 801010? They will be gross and mushy :[
Also- if you are craving intense sweetness so bad you consider corn syrup on your bananas, try eating a large amount of dates. It's pure sugary toffee goodness, you will not need refined sugar at all.
Permalink Reply by DURIANRIDER on April 6, 2012 at 6:49am Ive eaten baked bananas before. They are just like ripe bananas essentially. All one is doing is turning the starches into sugar. The entire concept of cooking starches is based on turning a grain, unripe fruit or a tuber closer to a ripe fruit.
Watch the 'Hungry For Change' DVD - then make up your own mind about corn syrup!
Permalink Reply by DURIANRIDER on April 6, 2012 at 7:06am HFCS isnt the issue, its the fat, grease and salt that people eat with it. Look at a person that pours HFCS over their rice or steamed potatoes vs someone that eats HFCS poured over their ribs, chicken corpse, dairy ice cream etc in the form of ketchup or hersey's syrup.
I used to consume a lot of HFCS. It keeps you lean as. I eat WAY more fructose now days though. Just low fat and vegan.
HFCS isnt healthy as fruit obviously but its definitely not a fattening agent like the super food supplement peddlars pretend it is. Mike Adams, David Wolf, Dr Mercola and co all sell refined sugars themselves in the form of 'coconut nectar', xylitol etc.
Are you being serious? You can't be. This is a joke right?
I've eaten cooked bananas and it was horrible. Warm, mushy and sweet does not taste good at all. Ugh I feel like throwing up just thinking about that meal.
