Has anyone noticed any positive changes in their menstrual cycle since adopting a low-fat, raw vegan diet?
Since I began 11 weeks ago, I have had two periods. There was not much change in the first, but with my second one I noticed four improvements: 1) no need to take any pain medication, which I have ALWAYS needed for the first 2 days; 2) the volume of blood I lost was at least 1/3 less; 3) the number of days I bled was reduced from 5 days to 3 days; 4) the blood was not full of clots.
Sorry to be so graphic, but there is no way around it. :)
I have had severe dysmenorrhea since I began menstruating at the age of 13. I have followed an all raw diet for long periods off and on over the past 20 years, but it was always VERY high in fat (good fats, ha ha), and never made any difference in my monthly misery. I am so happy to have discovered that eating too much fat was the problem, but I am also stunned that this was never mentioned as a possible cause in any of the literature I read.
I would love to hear your own experiences.
