30 Bananas a Day!

I just cycled 250km in two days, 140/110 respectively.  The last 50 KM my butt was hurting LOL!  one small area on each cheek where it was rubbing, just had some bumps from irritation. I am 90% healed the next day, but that last 50 km was painful.

I know there are products to apply before heading out on the bike, but I dont really like applying too many products.  What do you do?

I wear cycling shorts

I cycle nearly every day, but never have cycled this far so more conditioning would help

Vaseline (Petroleum Jelly), padded bike shorts and a narrow bike seat all help. You can also be sore as hell (without chaffing) when you up your miles dramatically but that soreness will pass after more long rides.

Its like digging holes in the garden. Even with gloves if yo handz aint used to it you will get blisters..

I rode 200km today. No worries BUT (pun intended) if I started a bike tour I would be a sore lad for the first week for sure.

Part of cycling is building up the contact points and maintaining that contact point 'tuffness'.

Congrats on the riding btw. :)

key is (tis) time in saddle!!!!   ya arse will harden up with time and kms!

dont use Vaseline or any other crap! get a good set of knics (assos) and always clean b4 every ride!!

thats what works 4me, pro4 5years and  ridin 4 10! and races 24hour races on a hardtail mtb.

4some1 that doesnt do much ridin DURIANRIDER i c alot of 200km today posts?? haha

200km, that's a baby ride :)

When you get up to 3000 mile mountain bike rides with 5 days of rain (with no supply crew and carrying your own gear) you might change your mind. :)

Seriously, most of the pro cyclists and even the triathletes use one of these: Preparation H, A&D, chamois cream or vaseline.

Old school US -> Canada -> US Ride:

My husband rides hundreds of miles at a time and he uses "Chamois butter" and never leaves on his bike without using it :D
