30 Bananas a Day!

So today is my first day eating this way and I'm super stoked! I already made myself and awesome smoothie with a whole pineapple, a banana and 2 dates (threw in some spirulina in there, is that OK in this diet?) The one thing that concerns me is that I recently suffered from candida. I have been vegetarian or vegan for most of my adult life but when I went to my boyfriend's acupuncturist he told me that to beat candida I had to start eating meat and of course, no fruit whatsoever. Get this...I actually listened. For about 2 weeks I ate meat and veggies. Never felt worse! Physically I didnt feel very energized but emotionally was what really bugged me. I was so angry, irritable and unhappy. I know that wasnt die-off too. Everytime I've eaten meat I've felt that way. So I was like screw this, and went back to raw. I figured that since I'm eating such live real food my body will heal. I've been pulled in the direction of 80/10/10 and the more I read the more I want to try it. But I worry...What if the candida gets worse? Any thoughts?

Get a copy of 811 and read it. :)

Well, we are going to tell you the same thing as your acupuncturist ironically:

Fruits and meats do not mix.

Fruits and high fat diets do not work.

High fat diets prevent the body's cells from utilizing blood sugars properly.  When blood sugar starts to rise, candida blooms in some people.  Think of it as a pre diabetes mechanism.

Eat low fat whole raw fruits and leafy lettuce greens for optimum health.

If your current symptoms are severe, you might want to try a bananas island for about a week to ease digestion and allow your body to heal.

Good news is that it takes about 48 hours for blood lipids to reduce from a high fat diet.  Then candida blooms start to die.

It may take a few weeks for skin eruptions like acne to heal up.

Peace, PK

So glad you went back to raw.  Take a look at the candida cure on roger haske's website.  It's pricey but I guess it's worth it.

I do not listen to any nutrition advice from anyone not a raw vegan 80/10/10 expert.

Many people fall for the old don´t eat fruit deal. I did but it didn´t feel right. I really think part of detox is a mass candida die off. I believe the excess candida dies off about 3-5 days into 100% raw. We always have candida, but if you are not on antibiotics, eat raw, and diabetic issues are coming under control, so does the candida. I believe it is part of the reason many people feel so bad about the 4th or 5th day. Thrush of the tongue is an overgrowth so bad that the tongue becomes raw and can have raised white patches. Most adults on SAD, have a pale white covering on their tongue that is not raw and they do not notice. Their biggest complaint is that their food is bland, so they add salt and spices. Fruit does not taste as good to them. Young children have beautiful deep pink tongues and they are very sensitive to spices and salt and strong flavors.

If you stay raw, after the first week, candida levels in you body will continue to drop to normal. Your tongue is kind of a window into what is going on. The more healthy it is, the healthier you are inside.

I always felt better the first week or so of low carb, but it never lasted. My energy would eventually drop until just walking up the stairs made me short of breath. Raw food is the opposite. The longer I am following it, the better I feel and the more energy I have.

The candida may feel worse the first week, in fact, you may feel terrible. The worst should be over within 7 days. I came off a horrible diet. ( I loved ice cream!) and have had a lot of antibiotics over the past two years. I was ill from the afternoon of day 4, all of day 5, all of day 6, a new me on day 7. The crap on my tongue thickened so much I couldn't really move it. My breath was horrible, my kids thought I was dying and I could not brush the stuff off. It started falling off around the edges at the end of day 6. You look really great in your picture. Maybe you won't get hit so bad. All of that was well worth it. I felt like superwoman on day 7.

I just ran into an old friend last night. I haven't seen her in a year. She said. 'You look really good!' She meant healthy. She is right, I feel better than I have felt in years. You are on the right path.
