30 Bananas a Day!

Been completely munging out on dates and bananas lately. Loving the medjool dates they are the shiznit!

my question , whilst i am ensuring my caloric intake is appropriate, can you 'over-do' the dates, just asking because they are sooooooo sweet . I have been having around 700 -1000 cals of dates per day, the rest of my cals come from bananas with some greens chucked in later in the day, for the last 3 days.. should I give the dates a rest? I am just adoring them at the moment.

XX and sticky medjool hugs

You should soak all dry fruit - a few hours is enough.
No way you can over do it with fresh dates! I`ve been gorging on fresh, gooey, delicious barhi dates from The Date People and I feel like i`m high. Wooo!
Dates have a glycemic index of 103, which is very high compared to most foods. That could be why you get a sugar high when you eat them alone, then crash. This normally should not be a problem in a low fat diet since the sugar can be absorbed easily. Also, if you eat something low-calorie/high-fiber beforehand (like a head of lettuce), that would reduce the glycemic index of the dates.
There is no crash :)
When I first started low fat raw, dates used to give me a bit of a woozy head, 'cos all the fat was still clogging up the cell walls. I can pound dates down like nothing now, no issues whatsoever as long as I'm properly hydrated. Just gotta stay hydrated and keep your fat intake down. Nuts, seeds, and avocados don't taste as good as dates anyway! :)
I always have a little bit of water when I'm eating dates. not too much, but a little. I feel like this satisfies me more and leaves me feeling hydrated and energetic. Plus it washes the sugar out of my mouth :)

I don't usually eat dates, but Medjool dates made my day easier today! I couldn't sleep very well last night (maybe 2-3 hours)  and I have been dragging myself all day long today. So, I started craving cooked food as my mother made a lentils/veggiess casserole. The smell was so nice that I decided to take a walk outside...and tada! Thank god I found a fruit store where they sell medjool dates. It was incredible but as soon as I ate them (6 or 7), the cravings disappeared :)

So keep enjoying them! :D

Cheers!
