Permalink Reply by Sanazberries on April 27, 2012 at 12:14pm Check out Alba, Driscolls, and riders and sons! TONS of berries, and some veggies too. You guys are pretty close to some of the biggest berry dealers in nor cal! haha
I live in San Jose too. I buy my bananas, date, mangos from Whole Foods. The give a 10% discount on case prices. I am the only HCRV in my house, my husband is SAD through & through. I go through approx 84 bananas, 14-20 mangos and about 120 medjool dates per week. You should also try your local Safeway, they have organic and may give you a better case discount.
For my veggies I go to the Blossom Hill Farmers Market (Sun 9am - 1pm), here is the link. http://cafarmersmkts.com/markets/category/blossom
Summer is just around the corner, so we should start seeing more fruit at the farmers market.
Good luck!

Permalink Reply by Matt Willard on April 27, 2012 at 3:40pm I live in Bakersfield....There are plenty of great resources for fruit you just have to hunt them down..its like a scavenger hunt....Yesterday I came up on 80lbs of bananas at the grocery store for 7 BUCKS!!!!! Most markets get rid of fruit at about the time when it really gets sweet and ripe....you just have to go find the produce dude and say...Hey do you guy have any bananas that you are gonna get rid of that might be to ripe to sell...The guy came out with two cases on a cart and wrote $3.50 in sharpie on both of them...I almost crapped myself......THE DEALS ARE OUT THERE MY FRIEND........................HAPPY HUNTING

Permalink Reply by Jennifer G on April 27, 2012 at 4:09pm You may want to try Cash and Carry on Oak St. in Oakland. It's a restaurant supply that's open to the public. Today I bought a 40 lb. case of bananas there for $15.60. They have good deals on produce. I just found Cash and Carry in San Jose, 1731 West San Carlos St.
Permalink Reply by Camille G on April 27, 2012 at 10:43pm Hey! I'm originally from San Jose. Whenever I go back to my parents house we go to the farmer's markets. The ones I go to are the one in Campbell on Sunday mornings, the one at West Valley college on Saturdays, and the one in Cambrian Plaza Wednesday evenings. If you go at the very end you can get whole boxes of produce super cheap.
Here is a list of farmer's markets in the Bay.

Permalink Reply by Ayllx Kalen on April 28, 2012 at 12:09am I live in California! I've always done good buying in bulk from Cost-co, going to sprouts for veggies, and now recently, Ranch 99 for cauliflower (99 cents per head! Score!).
It can be pretty costy somedays, in my opinion, but its wort hit in the end.
I've heard from my dad Whole Foods has great prices on organic fruits. And from a few here, you can ask them for big boxes of fruits, and I believe also for a slight discount (not sure about that part).
what part of ca are you from?
