30 Bananas a Day!

Hi,

I have read some places that on a HCLFRV diet, you only need to brush your teeth with water, and that toothpastes are actually very harmful to your teeth.

Toothpaste is my last conventional cleanser left to get rid of - and I'm a little hesitant to do so, just in case.

What are your opinions/experiences using/not using toothpaste?

Thanks, guys!

Once upon a time I went to school for Dental Assisting so Im kinda obsessed with keeping my mouth clean. Toothpaste taste like chemicals to me, anyways I use Toothy Tabs from a store called Lush its all natural and vegan, I live in Canada but I think you can order them online or maybe there is a Lush near you. There is a few different flavours, my children really prefer using them over toothpaste too.

The flavour "sparkle" is what my kids like its like vanilla and citrus, you just crunch them up in your teeth and then wash with a soft brush and it foams up. If your adventurous try "Dirty" or "Breath of God" I personally like them but I'm not gonna lie it is a little weird at first one is a sandalwood flavour and the other I don't even know what its suppose to be lol Ill be trying "Aquatic" next its earl grey, jasmine and lime.

Definatley for kids Sparkle is the only way to go, unless your kids like mint flavour then there are a few more to choose from.

I find an alchemy of bicarbonate of soda, cream of tartar and lemon rind much more effective than standard toothpaste. It can foam up a bit much if you use too much. It's still effective if you miss out the lemon rind if you want a simpler version.

There is lots of varying opinions on toothpaste amongst dental professionals. Personally I just use water and a soft brush with a waterpik and a tongue cleaner on occasion.

I love EcoDent tooth powder, especially the anise flavor.  The main ingredient is baking soda, and it also has dicalcium phosphate, which is great for remineralizing your teeth.  No fluoride or glycerin either.  Then I use a sonicare toothbrush because I tend to brush too hard with a regular brush.

I was just reading that brushing right after you eat weakens your enamel, and it's better to just brush when you first wake up and then a bit after dinner.  This is especially true if you eat citrus.  It's supposed to be better to rinse your mouth with water after your meals.  So I'm trying this now - it feels so weird not to brush my teeth after my meals!
