30 Bananas a Day!

I'm still trying figure out the feeling difference between hunger and withdraw, and I was wondering when do you usually eat breakfast? Sometimes I feel hungry first thing in the morning, but then it goes away for a while and comes back. ??

I think the morning is the best time to exercise. I tend not to eat until around 9/9.30ish. I get up at 6.30, drink 2 pints of water, bike 12 miles to work, go for a swim and shower, then drink some more water. Go buy some melons, and eat 3 honeydew melons at around 9.30ish. Im usually actually hungry by then. After 3 melons I'm done with food til lunch. :o)

thanks you are very inspirational. do you think its ok to exercise after breakfast too?
Hey Watermelon

No, I dont think its a great idea to exercise after eating. It impairs digestion. If we exercise before eating, it improves digestion. We shouldnt eat anything until we are able to benefit from it. Its just a waste of money and food otherwise.

Best to exercise, then eat, regardless of what meal it is, rather than the other way around.

For example, after Ive biked home after work, if I wanted to go to a class or something, I would just drink water until after that class. Then I will have really worked up an appetite and my body will be able to get the most from the food. Much better this way.

Hey Anita, Have you tried just eating 1-2 pieces of fruit, or taking along a diluted fruit shake (for example, 1-2 bananas with like 14 ozs. water or so, and maybe a rib or two of celery). I've heard or read of Doug Graham saying if you need something before exercising, to do a small amount of fruit--juicier fruit may be even easier as it will digest more quickly. I believe he says you can generally do this and exercise right away.
I believe the whole breakfast is the most important meal of the day thing is a complete myth personally. Your body is still housecleaning till about mid day and so as soon as you put anything slightly harder to digest into your body it will stop that process and start digestion work.
So if you don't feel hungry or you don't have an appetite then just don't eat. And if you do keep it light and liquid maybe.

I start my day with a big glass of lemon water, then a bit later I will have fresh orange/grapefruit juice with all the bits in.

If I'm not hungry after that I won't eat till lunch and if I am I will eat any high water fruit and mono it, usually water melon, honeydew, pear, apple or mango....depending on whats available.....Or a green smoothie.

Then by lunchtime I'm usually super hungry and I have a great big meal, it's my biggest of the day.

I wish I could exercise every morning, it would be my favorite time for sure. It's not easy with two lil ones...:(
I agree with this. "Breakfast is the most important part of the day" should go under the 10 myths thread. Although when you think about it, it IS important in that when we break our fasts something health promoting and not health destroying should go into it. ie fruit/water instead of eggs/bacon.
Great article, Debbie! Watermelon, what we are taught to believe is hunger, really isn't!
I want to join the "no breakfast club"! I also feel sort of hungry in the morning, but it goes away and then comes back around 11-ish. I was forcing myself to eat before I left the house for work because I thought that I would experience weakness if I didn't. But I now realize that's just nonsense. Or if I feel weak, just one orange will do it.
I usually wake up around 4am ish and straight away I drink 1ltr water withlemon juice. I would then only eat breakfast if really really hungry for it at around 9.30 - this would normally be a mono fruit or simple green smoothy with 2 or 3 ingrediants in it. This keeps me well satisfied and fuelled until lunch. I just go with the flow on how I am feeling each morning after my water intake......... hope you find your way :0)
