Its no that great compare to durian :)
not much is, my friend lol

eh, no not really.. real squishy but not leaking or anything
I've had durian once. It was like eating onion flavored custard. Do they always taste like that?

I want to try me some black sapote! I've never seen a grocery store here carry them though :(
kinda.. some are much sweeter than others.. you acquire an appreciation for that depth of flavor.. it was real strange for me at first also

yea this was the first i've seen em outside of florida where i had the incredible opportunity to get em fresh of the tree, so i'm a little anxious to see if they're as good
oh women!

All the girls says durian taste like some kind of onion and custards!
I like raw vegan onion custard better than cheesecake, yick! Sorry.
You know I love durian. So I agree with rawgreengoddess, no generalisations please :-)
That's your problem, you've only had it once. I wasn't that impressed the first time either. Then, randomly a month later I was craving it so badly and I had one and it was the best thing in the world. I want another now so badly, it's been another month.
If that is black sapote, what the heck are these? The guys at the organic wholesaler sold them to me as black sapote, but they don't look anything like yours, and sure don't taste like chocolate pudding. In fact I am not at all impressed (especially for the price I paid). Any clues?

yea i've never had it but i'm pretty sure it's mamey sapote.. i've wanted to try it so bad.. i'm surprised you don't like them because i've heard they are delicious.. maybe it wasn't ripe?
Ryan, you are a star! I googled mamey sapote, and you were right. Maybe it just wasn't ripe. It was kind of bland, and a little starchy. Anyone got ideas on how I can tell when to eat it?
Mamey's? They need to pretty soft on the outside. The softer the better, the more riper. I don't like them too soft because they can taste a little fermented if so.
