30 Bananas a Day!

Ello 30Bad,

firstly: has anybody on this forum toured? fully loaded, camping and all?

second:

I have been toying with the idea of another bicycle tour this summer. My experience last summer was 50% cooked 50% raw vegan. we could not be picky with the grocery stores encountered and you had a 1/20 chance of having the option of organic fruits and vegetables. this did not bother me much then.

but i did not know then what i know now... about the dangers of "conventionally grown, non organic" foods. Ive been working at a local health food store with an entire bookshelf full of information. for example: over half the molecules of irradiated foods turn into free radicals and over half of the nutrients are destroyed.... excitotoxins and the brain... etc.

if i were to encounter organic fruits and vegetables, i would naturally want to stock up... however i learned the hard way that every ounce counts!

i guess you can see where i am going with this...
tis the delima

any words of advice?

Hey there scottie lovely!, I haven't done any bike touring at all, but hope to in the future. So I can't help precisely with that.

But, I'd say that, in my opinion, eating raw is more important than eating organic. I've been thinking about this a lot lately b/c it seems that there are not enough ripe organic fruits and veggies in this city to satisfy my needs to stay raw. So, I've been buying some conventional. I came to this conclusion b/c after eating cooked food I feel like s***, absolute s*** - groggy, sluggish, moody, tired, get cravings, etc. However, after eating conventional fruits and veggies, even those on the "dirty dozen" list, I feel great!

So, obviously, that doesn't mean that conventional fruits aren't bad. Of course there is some detriment in eating them. But, in the choice of cooked organic or raw conventional, I'd choose raw conventional any day!

Also, this may seem far out and I don't know how into this kind of thing you are, but, I believe we have the power to do awesome things with our minds...like make pesticides, etc. less harmful to our bodies. So while eating conventional fruits it can't hurt to imagine your body scooping up all the pesticides and sending them right out as fast as they come in!

Also...dates have really high calorie/oz ratio. So you could get a lot of calories for less weight with dates.

Hope you do it, and have an awesome time. Keep me posted!
