Hi everyone, myself and my partner are planning on going to Bali to see if it would be a nice place to relocate to. i hear its beautiful, warm seas and tropical climate and fruits with a spiritual vibe to it some people say also.
i was wondering - does anyone know which towns are good/bad for fruits or if it makes much difference?
would love any feedback overall on anyone who has been there. thanks a billion trillion! :D

Permalink Reply by Kelly Myra on October 28, 2012 at 10:57pm was there quite long time ago, nice island but quite a lot of traffic at some places...
A lot of monkeys! very green island, lots of fruits, but also lots of tourists at some places...
It is major tourist area, a bit too busy for me, but yes, still beautiful.
Been going to Sumatera since '97 ..... I recommend it over Bali for a number of reasons ....... but if you need to be around a lot of other Western people then maybe Bali is more suited to you .......... got a big gardening project happening in North Sumatera near Bukit Lawang ..... home to 1 of 5 orangutan sanctuaries in the world ...... lots of fresh water rivers flowing off the mountains .... last time we went to the North side of Bali the waterfall was bone dry ???????? Cheaper land prices or just join with the locals ...... Less development pressure ...... Most people are still gardeners .... !!!!!!!!! Yeah I love it .......
Permalink Reply by Sam on November 22, 2012 at 10:41pm I spent a few months on a small island near Manado in North Sulawesi. It is such a beautiful place and lovely people! It is nearly 100% Christian up there and each family owns some land in the "jungle" where they grow bananas, mangoes and coconuts. There is usually a local market in each village where you can buy the durians, lychees, rambutan etc.
However it is hard to live there as a westerner because there is no internet or good phone service, and there are no other westerners. haha
Their diet is interesting because it is FULL of oil (made from coconuts/palm trees I think), they even fry bananas for breakfast, but most of them are quite skinny. It seems like the rich locals are fatter because they can afford more meat.
