30 Bananas a Day!

I get my bananas from ASDA in the UK, I just pick up a whole box unopened and take it to the checkout, they never know how to sell a whole box even though I buy a box every week from the same store it's quite funny. It normally takes 2-3 managers and about 15 mins to get the transaction done, every time they insist that they need to take all the bananas out and weigh them separately and every time I tell them that last week they simply calculated .68p * 17kg as stated on the box and entered into the till, it amuses me every week :)

So I pay £11.56 for 17kg but when I tried to get a 17kg box from my local fruit market they wanted £22 :s so far the supermarkets have been the cheapest source for me.

What's the prices like Everywhere else?

Bananas are the cheapest they have been in ages here in Oz. $40/box of organic ones.

In Germany you pay 1,99€/kg no matter if organic or not. In some supermarkets you have organic and conventional ones usually Chiquita. A few days ago I saw Chiquitas for 1,79€/kg and nameless ones for 1,24€/kg at a discount store, but they really REALLY didn't look good.

I didn´t know you can buy all box from asda, which town do you live in?

I live in Guildford at the moment, I just pick up the unopened boxes which are hidden behind the shelves ready for stock rotation.

non-organic I can get 40lbs for $20 and organic is $30 so I suppose I have a pretty good deal going on =]

I just bought two 40 pound cases of really good organic bananas for a total of $44.91.  I think they gave me an extra discount because last time I bought one case it was over 30 dollars (which was just a week ago).  They are normally .98 cents a pound without the case discounts here.  I live in Washington state.

Here in Spain where I live I had some trouble finding good quality bananas, and now that I did I need to have them ordered every time because they don't deliver those usually. It costs me now 1.59 Euros the kilo, not organic, but they told me the price will be going down into the summer to 0.99 the kilo.

Buy Canarian bananas, they're good =)
Also, natural bananas are around 0.59 €/kg at the market here (not sure if they're identical to everyone else's organic bananas). If they're overripe, prices will drop as much as to 0.20 €/kg.

I suppose the UK is quite cheap for bananas then, bananas and dates is all I eat right now, all other fruit near me tastes rubbish, a few months ago it was all good but lately I can't find the good stuff!

hey there, i live in utah and also and get my bananas for around $34 which is 89 cents a pound. They are the organics unlimited brand which is by far the best tasting banana brand i have found. Sometimes they come from mexico and those ones taste especially dank! Where are you getting yours for $25 and what brand?

this same thing used to happen to me all the time. good for you that you can seem to be amused by it because i found it rather annoying, mostly because i was usually getting them after work and wanted to get home! i get mine for 89 cents a pound with a case discount.
