30 Bananas a Day!

How would we have gotten b12 if we only ate fruit and greens? Would it be from not washing our food?

We wouldnt have any pollution.

We would have the purest water. No additives.

We would have never eaten a mouthful of non organic food.

We would have slept on the dirt each night.

We would have full cobalt levels in the soil from the absence of modern farming methods.

We would have probably 1% of the stress we have today in society. Go out into the forrest. Pretend your just an animals. Its food, water, shelter, mate and safety. Easy.

Well said.  This may be a stretch but personally I believe something deep within us, our soul yearns and desires for what you have just described.  Deep in me I keep feeling I want to go back home and that I am tired of  the modern world.  I want simplicity.  I want Eden.

I keep getting the response: We probably eat meat every once and a while. But i just dont see that as true.

Cooked meat does not contain any B12. Biologically active B12 is destroyed by heat.

There are a lot of dumb things we (collectively) do that mess up B12. DR gave a nice list of them. Cobalt in the soil is a big one.

we probably did eat very small animals or bugs if there was nothing else(last resort for survival), but that wouldn't have much to do with b-12.

Bacteria is the best source of B12 NOT MEAT.   There are more micro organisms in a square inch of dirt then there are people on earth. So if you were to grab wild food and eat it there would be B12 all over it. Further more back in the old days we would store food in root cellar  or in a freaking hole in the ground. Right we want some food  for winter. That food would be covered with bacteria and B12.  And we would natural eat dirt on our food which is loaded with bacteria and B12.

Further more the soil non organic corporations farm on  has most of if not all the bacteria in the soil killed from the toxic chemicals. Fertilizer,  weed killer, pesticides.  Then the veggies are triple washed clean of all B12.

Fermented veggies and Kefir.  All the B's you need.

The bacteria are not all that's important - the cobalt is too. Even on an organic farm, the soil can be deficient in cobalt from use of a poor quality fertilizer.

Food source is not as important as optimal absorption, which many people do not have, especially people who have eaten SAD most of their lives.

It would be very dumb to eat fermented veggies and Kefir.

Why would it be dumb to eat fermented veggies ?

I save veggies from my garden this way and eat them all winter.

I was under the impression it was a good thing.

I have heard that the body when in optimal state will produce it on its own...perhaps that's from a good bacteria balance. Fortified foods most of us are fed as kids messes with the body, etc. I think if you're healthy enough long enough, maybe we can regain this state. Just a theory...I for one am not keen on injecting anything ever or otherwise supplementing my diet.

Once I was diagnosed with cancer I went raw vegan. Heaps of veges, juices and some fruit. Over a month I had two B-12 tests. WITHOUT supplementation it went up quite a bit!!!!! Tells me my gut flora can produce it and I can absorb it. Veges were not organic or rarely were during the time period.

thanks for this info :)
