30 Bananas a Day!

I have discovered something that is helping me stay HCRV - and that is - that while I know that eating mega amounts of fruit is vitally important on this lifestyle - I have learned that oftentimes eating a huge - I mean huge - salad - helps me to have something to chew through and fills my stomach with harder to digest types of foods which helps me to feel full.

Also - somehow I notice that my energy level is better from all of the greens.

Lately, I make a huge daily salad with some variety of kale, savoy cabbage, red cabbage, Chinese cabbage, chard, lettuce of differing types, and shredded carrots.  The thing ends up looking like it is enough for 5 people !

I use lemon / lime juice and olive oil based dressings and then I toss well and let the dressing settle to the bottom of the salad bowl.

The other thing too is that a huge salad like this can add a nice element of variety to this diet without having to resort to exotic and wildly expensive types of fruit.  Just have the large and artful mix of salad vegetables in the diet and then a decent mix of affordable fruit staples.

There is the concern about the digestibility of salads - but ironically - I find the fact that salads like this being harder to digest something of a blessing - they make me feel satisfied in a different way than fruit - and it feels like they clean out and lighten up my viscera.

Now - if I could only finally kick the 4 shot Americano addiction that I have had for years !

Anyway - onward and upward - thanks to all !

some people here i think only eat fruit, and say that that is awesome for them.

for me, if i don't eat greens for a while i don't feel as good.

i think i read somewhere that when you crave greens it means that you need more minerals then people who don't.  people crave greens more if they have a history of drug use or calorie restriction, or are not 811 for very long, or something else that would deplete your body of minerals.

now i don't know for sure, but i am pretty sure i read what i just said above somewhere on this forum once.  i'm not sure though, so take that for what you will.

i crave greens almost every day.  i feel much better with them in my diet.

Any evening I'm not chugging down fruit calories before a run I loooove to chop up some spinach, cucumber, tomato, orange, mushroom, avocado etc. chuck it into a massive mixing bowl, grab a fork and go to town.

greens are wonderful, however tricking your body into thinking it's full with large salads, has its own downside, you must be undereating on fruit if you aren't feeling full.I laughed tonight after my dinner,i felt so full, yet my dinner was simply, first course, a fruit pudding,2 large mangos,7 large bananas and 8 dates with cinnamon,i waited an hour, then i made cucumber noodles, out of two large cucumbers, added 1 T of tahini, sprinkle of dulse and lemon juice rolled it into nori sheets, and i am so satisfied.I have carbed up plenty today.

2 rockmelons for breakfast.

10 bananas 6 dates for lunch into a smoothie

and yeh ditch the oil,it doesn't do the body a world of good.

In a nutshell large salads are awesome,as long as we have eaten enough fruity carbs throughout the day, first.

I thought you are allowed 10% fat on 811? - so a little fat.  Doug says in his book you can have 2tablespoons of olive oil a day if that is the only fat you are having.  You can buy it unrefined and cold-pressed.   Surely that is better than someone going fat free and ending up binging on bad food?
Yes, I agree totally Nancy-
exactly Nancy, undereat on fruity carbs you will break loose and binge it's not rocket science :)
Isa where in Doug's book does he say olive oil is ok? i have the original 801010 book and there is absolutely nowhere in there that says oil is a good food to eat.Yes 10% fat is fine, alot of us do well on less fat than that some people a little more fat than that. The only time anyone binges on bad food it's because they have undereaten on fruit,it's that simple, not undereaten on fat.

thank you so much for the information

LOL! I was going to say, try it without oil, but I saw lots of others already did! :) But that's great! Glad you have found that helps, it helps me too! Hey, have you tried putting the lemon or lime juice in a blender with some avocado? You could whiz that up and at least it would be a higher quality, non processed (except blending) fat. It would probably have a nice creamy consistency too... Hmm, I think I'm hankering a salad now! ;)

I decided to use the bottle of olive oil I have only on my hair and skin.
