I have recently read eating nuts with citrus for breakfast helps regulate blood sugar and gives a more consistent energy thoughout the day.??????
I venture it may cause sugar to linger... but possible the citrus helps to emulsify and more quickly enable digestion of the fat ???
Has anyone tried this ?? What were your results/conclusions?
I agree with helen. i have also read that consuming overt fats can hinder your ability to absorb sugars for up to 24 hours after, so I leave my fat intake to the evenings giving it some time to settle before I want to be absorbing sugars the next day.
bad idea... probably atleast...
i remember i used to eat (some time after i started hcrv) citrus with nuts cause it felt better than if i ate citrus alone... i just felt citrus would make too cold, while nuts warmed me up, so the combination worked. (but it was always at night, as far as i can remember)
i wasn't counting so rigorously back then, so maybe i went off 80-10-10 a bit (or a lot... but probably not that much, i think...)
more recently, the last time i tried eating overts(avo) with sweet fruit, i felt veeeery sivck afterwerds, so i'd proly advise not to do that - unless you're a masochist of course... no i don't want that again!
but maybe that could've been the avo. perhaps with nuts, it would go differently duno... would've to try...
well, if you really wanna do the experiment, then go ahead and try it... but i must advance that i am not very optimistic about it... but anyways, go ahead and do it. after all, it's a small sacrifice for the benefit of science...
if you succeed in performing the experiment, you can then consider yourself a distinguished member of the 'mad scientist club'. i myself will handle you your diploma in 'fruitcake science'.
ok, enough empty talk. no, i have never tried this, nor do i currently have the intention of trying it out. by the way, where did you get that idea anyway? (just asking, just curious...)
p.s. for the record, if that interests you, shortly before turning hcrv i got the habit of eating tangerines with bread... i used to love it! later i learned this was a bad combination... as the acids of the tangerine would not go well with the starches of the bread : ( disappointing... i didn't feel anything back then, but i guess this doesn't count for much (it's what everyone says when they eat all sorts of strange things...) anyway, i no longer eat bread so no need to concern myself with that!
If you try, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. I'll do the same if I try it.
