I love the sweet and juicy taste of pine apple. But every time I eat it it feels like my tongue got burned. It's all numb and everything I eat afterwards loses its taste, somehow..
Does anyone know of a simple solution to this problem?

Permalink Reply by Heidi Noelle on May 22, 2012 at 5:46am You can tell a pineapple is ripe by the color (it should start to look yellow/orangish), the scent, and if you pull on a leaf from the center it should pull out easily.
I have this problem too i have to make sure pineapple is very ripe when i eat it. The burning feeling can also be due to how acidic it is.

Permalink Reply by Raw Zombie on May 22, 2012 at 5:47am Honestly, I would youtube there are lots of good videos on how to tell, I go by sight smell, I like them pretty golden and they are ridiculously sweet

Permalink Reply by Raw Zombie on May 22, 2012 at 5:49am unfortunately lots of pineapples are picked way before they can ripen properly so lots of serious fruit heads don't buy them unless they have a good source.
Permalink Reply by Mystiquem on May 22, 2012 at 6:17am Oh, thank you. I will definetely try this before I eat a pineapple again! :)
Permalink Reply by ednshell on May 22, 2012 at 6:10am If you don't live where they are being grown or have them flown directly to you from a known source, then it's very unlikely you will find a ripe one and they don't ripen once picked. If a fruit burns your tongue then it will burn your insides, do not eat! The only exception I know of is the fig, the skin will burn your lips unless you touch the inside to your lips before the skin touches it.
